Someone at the Ditch has just discovered capitalism for the first time, I see.
That €30 must pay Management Pay, Finance Staff, Rent, Rates, Light & Heat, Employers PRSI, IT, Training Costs etc.
The Government can instruct them to pay Living Wage but they would have to pay more. DEPR say no.
Its kinda parasitic in a way. Peak cancerous capitalism
I love that it’s the year 2024 and someone just woke up and figured out how capitalism works
I love how people in this thread think they’re so smart because they know this is normal. It’s very easy knowing you’re all on the other end of things like this that are common place in Ireland that contribute to inequality and a massive distrust of the system.
It seems like everyone gets to profit from the working people of Ireland apart from the working people themselves. You’ll never own your home, you’ll never own land because you’re not part of the club.
I understand folks saying this is how contracting works, and obviously, there are costs, but it doesn’t make it right.
This is our hard earned money, which we must pay tax on. Our government has no right to support this exploitation.
Before these contracts are awarded, the companies should be thoroughly vetted.
It sickens me to think that €17.30 (minus costs) per hour, per person, is going to the company for nothing.
Everyone responds in unison that this is exactly how the system works, it’s not breaking news.
That’s the point. They exploit workers pay, and they are currently refusing any form of conversation with union reps, and nobody is batting an eye over it.
Capitalism being a throw away reason for why this happens, and why nobody gives a shit, it’s all a bit fucking mad now.
Today in business studies we learn how a business works.
Didn’t one of the lads from the Ditch try to set up a company years ago based in Romania, paying workers Romanian wages and sub contracting them out to building sites in Ireland for top dollar? But was shut down because it wasn’t legal to pay workers working in Ireland below minimum wage.
Wait until the ditch learn how recruitment companies operate
Lads I’m sorry but if ye think a 60% margin is normal for a contracting company I have serious news for ye.
If this was reported by the Irish Times or something ye’d be all over it
ITT: “Well yeah, of course the orphan-crushing machine crushes orphans, why is that news?”.
Yep this is fairly standard
Bastard of a place to work from what I hear.. Union busting, treat workers like shit etc. I also remember them being very selective of who could work from home when places started closing in 2020.
You should see what the HSE pays to healthcare agencies in contracts and then saying they can’t hire people
Ya I’m a industrial pipe fitter….My company gets 100 euros per hour for my time ….I get 38ph. Ti’s how the world works
Happens across the board, electrical maintenance one foreman and multiple apprentices all charged fulll rate electricians.
I work in pharma get paid 35k a year. Company charges 70k to the customer for me to be on site
I’ll tell ya, try it sometime.
Yes how contracting works but paying minimum wage is pretty lousy, the proportions are exploitative
Company doing what every single other company in the country is doing unless it wants to go bankrupt.

Yes, that’s how contracting companies *work*, Ditch Guys…
It’s the same at all levels… pay your software development contractor €300/day, bill out at €600.
You are only allowed to transfer taxpayer money if it’s in a leaky bucket.
Gombeen Capitalism.
In other words, the ditch figures out that corporations take advantage of consumers and employees.
Ah ffs lads , it’s literally how contracting companies work. Everyone knows this.
