  1. OK, now do it by performance/medals based on age!

I was about to say I’m past my prime, but this is just participation, I wonder if it looks any different by winning % or quantity by age.

  2. Why do I feel like both the 11 and 69 year old are skateboarders?

  3. Would love some data on the distribution of medals as well.Like what’s the median age of the average medalist

  4. the rare /r/dataisbeautiful bar chart that’s actually well done

  5. In most sports I believe it is already quite extraordinary for a single athlete to compete in 3 editions (8 years). But the curve shown here suggests that there is a wide age range.

I think that some sports have steeper curves, but placed in different age brackets, cumulatively creating this graph.

  6. Excellent illustration of peak years of human physical abilities, as well as the steep drop-off after age 30. This also lines up with recent published data from MLB regard bat speed by age, and how the steep drop-off starts right around [30yo](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/O7WGUm8KvE)

  7. OP gotta give us the 11 year old and 69 year olds names.
