It’s wild to me that people can’t read cursive anymore.
Many old detective stories have this plot twist that someone recognises someone’s handwriting or forges someone’s writing.
Your handwriting used to be a unique thing and people could recognise who wrote to them. Employers used to ask for a sample of one’s handwriting because they believed it presented a person’s character. We used to analyse each other’s cursive handwriting for fun as a party game. It was a matter of pride to have an interesting hand. I even had a certain handwriting for writing letters to my husband. Legible but sexy. The l and the t would have just the right flourish, like a drawing and a letter all in one.
S.w.a.l.k. is something you cannot do with an email. Sigh.
I still have a large box of all of my husband’s steamy love letters from 25 years ago. Somehow I feel relieved that our heirs won’t be able to read them. Unless they post them on reddit.
