Ukraine-Russia war: As Ukrainian troops advance into Russia, Michael Clarke explains what it means

Ukraine’s incursion into Russia is “big” and represents much more than just a raid, our security and defence analyst Professor Michael Clarke says.

The ISW think-tank has estimated that Ukrainian forces may have penetrated up to 35km (20 miles) inside Russian territory.

  1. Means nothing for Russia,
called my partner about it soon as I herd because I was concerned for her safety as she is over there right now.
this barely made the news in Russia, to quote Monty python "tis but a scratch"
people forget how massive the Russian land mass is, this barely made a dent.
I think its just to warm us up for another round of Zelensky "pro begging"

  2. According to Russia's military doctrine, if an enemy invades its territory, it has the right to use nuclear weapons. Putin, of course, will not do this. But it can be removed at any time. Whoever went to Kursk thought about this?

  3. Sorry @Sky News, Micheal Clarke knows nothing about what is going on as well as Sean Bell. The one that does have some sort of a clue is Philip Ingram.

  4. Has anyone noticed that there is literally nothing except the untrained conscripts and a tiny number of corrupt lazy cowardly FSB troops standing between the Ukrainian army and Moscow.. the entire effective and trained Russian army is bogged down in Ukraine. …clearly the Ukrainians have a well thought out plan, they have the logistics, they have the manpower… Putin should be terrified… the Ukrainian army could possibly be seen driving their tanks around red square. It’s only 300 km to Moscow… this could be the start of one of the most amazing, spectacular victories ever! None of the so called experts can figure out the motivation behind this invasion… maybe they are too conservative, scared, cowed, and small minded.
Prigozhin showed what was possible… if Moscow is the goal….it’s audacious, it’s game changing and it’s clear that Ukrainian intelligence was excellent, the Ukrainian army has caught the Russians unaware, unprepared and with their pants down.

  5. But Donetsk region has taken a downhill turn in the weeks leading up to this operation. If the ukrainians dont keep advancing now, it will be all for nothing. Except for the fact they can cut off NATO members that still buy russian gas by shutting of the valve in Sudzha. That in itself is enough to make some in the west mad at them if they do so. Probably why they went in right there.

  6. Maybe Russia will respond in the same fashion as Israel did when it was invaded?
Surely there would be no protests from the West if that happened since they did and still do seem to support the activities of Israel in Gaza.
Comment quickly, before the post is shadow banned or deleted.

  7. It's crazy how YouTube all of a sudden started letting us all see the war that's happened and letting us all think that Ukraine is winning … how silly do they think people are ..Ukraine have lost 900k troops everyone knows it's a losing battle …

  8. Sky News eh. What a laugh. So Michael Clarke , who usually gives questionable explanations, points out that this is a 'risky' strategy for UKR. Quite so. He omits the criticism that appeared immediately from several senior Ukrainian military – probably people outside the loop, given the raging factionalism at the top, that this was a wrong headed operation. But we'll see. Several reports (based on overheard comms) put GB MI6 up as part of the organisation. Interesting that the Biden administration claims it had no prior knowledge of Ukraine’s plan to attack. If true it raises questions about the usual coordination of AFU action with satellite data. But it's probably untrue. The attack was clearly well planned but has already cost them dear. I read over 80 vehicles and 650+ kia. Also it is clear the personnel did not comprise new forces, Zelenski doesn't have any. So, he has been bleeding many of his best units all along the front to form the force. Risky indeed given the non stop AFR advances. And it has clearly failed to drag AFR forces away from the front elswhere. One serious problem, if the plan is as Michael suggests, to hold the ground 'for some time', is that as soon as they dig in they become fixed targets and be mercilessly pounded by FABs. Should not have listened to Boris the bs-er in April 2022 and taken what was a very good deal.

  9. It means that NATO troops, mostly UK, American & German, stormed Russia..I have the footage in X..it didn't go that well for them in the end. BTW, Ukraine's army is dead, it's 100% NATO troops now

  10. This move could push Russia to use its nukes. Zelensky was the worst thing to have happened to Ukrainian people. This war could have easily been avoided by some smart politics.

  11. Putin dug a deep pit for Russia. He apparently did not read the Book of the Proverbs of King Solomon. Putin’s false god is no god.
