  1. Fantastic to see this, more of this please! Great to have some positivity.

  2. It’s a written response to a request a week or so after the event, better than nothing, but there’s better examples from Unionist politicians of reaching across the divide on this issue,

DUP Communities Minister Gordon Lyons was also on hand to offer congratulations.
“Congratulations to Armagh on winning the All-Ireland Championship for only the second time in history,” he said in a statement.

  3. I’m struggling to get outraged here.

Need more positive stories like this.

  4. And how does the chap in the pic thank him? He holds him up by the ears like a trophy. It’s disgustaan

  5. This is positive.

Each time, however big or small, there’s a little reach across the divide, we move a little further away from the pain of the past and towards a more harmonious future.

  6. I hate to put a negative slant on it, but Edwin Poots did not write that letter, he would have had someone in his private office draft the letter, and then he would have signed off on it.

I mean, how can you *not* respond in this manner anyway? It’s basically asking “What is 7 x 7?” and they answer, “49.”

It just goes to show how low the bar is when someone gets congratulated for default behavior, and most likely not even their own default behavior, but the office’s default behavior.
