Seems to me the people of the village of Dundrum are being led down a very dangerous path by a self- professed “citizen” lawyer – Patrick McGreal. Have a look at his twitter feed. Shower recommended afterwards.
They aren’t stupid enough to try to stop buses, or check IDs (hopefullly) but if other anti-immigrant characters such as Derek Blighe and the Collock Loyalist Lovers mob arrive on, they will definitely encourage violence and the whole community will suffer.
The hotel was bought for a song and the the current owner is making shedloads from housing refugees. I think the locals are deluding themselves to think that it will be converted back to “normal’ use.
Essentially, it’s a racist exercise by the locals. Ukrainians are grand as they are white and Christian. The new folks may be brown/black and Muslim and we can’t have that here.
The people of Dundrum will look back at these moments in years to come with shame and incredulity as to how they were led down a merry path of Christian White supremacy.

In fairness a small community of 164 people shouldn’t be outnumbered by refugees or asylum seekers. A community should have a say in such an important matter. The government just has free reign to do whatever it likes. You wouldn’t mind it as much if they said to the people that all individuals/asylum seekers had a thorough background check and are genuine. The fact is that so many chancers are in the system there taking advantage of it. It does make sense why a community would oppose this and not welcome it with open arms and try to deter them.
