  1. I don’t get why us Americans are “ex-pats” in the contries they reside in but everyone else is an immigrant. Lmao.

  2. Once you’re done working and ready to retire, leaving the US makes sense. There are so many better places in the world where you can live well, with more personal freedom, safety and comfort and for much less money. Some places in Mexico are an option, also Italy and Spain, plus a few Caribbean locations.

Sit back and watch America from a safe distance.

  3. I moved to Kyiv, Ukraine in 2020 and stayed there until the full-scale invasion. My salary wasn’t good enough to live comfortably in the US. I worked fully remotely for a small logistics firm in the US. By moving to Ukraine, I instantly got an effective 50% raise. I lived an upper middle class life there, and Kyiv did so many things better than major American cities—safer, more beautiful, and access to luxury for an affordable price. I can say the same for Polish cities like Kraków. Healthcare was affordable, too.

For people who have autonomy, opting out of America is an attractive option with many benefits.
