Moment cargo ship explodes at China’s key port

Surveillance and eyewitness footage captured the moment a dramatic explosion took place on a cargo ship docked at a busy port in eastern China.

Taiwanese shipping firm Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp said one of its cargo ships caught fire on Friday at China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. Earlier, Chinese state media said an explosion was reported at the port and shockwaves were felt a kilometre (0.6 miles) away.

  5. I was once wondering how they could ship a big lithium battery by air mail from China. When I received it, it was hidden inside a plastic toy car. The battery was big enough to bring down the plane if it started thermal runaway. Now it seems that they sent a large amount of lithium batteries, and packed laptops etc on them. There seems to be flying ones in the video. As a thermal runaway first can release huge amounts of oxygen and hydrogen, filling the container with such ideal mixture will cause a huge boom…
