Eventually Russia is going to have to start pulling more and more forces from the front to counter this. I don’t think they have the time or logistics to prevent a force redeployment from the front turning into a turkey shoot. The conscripts defending Russia are soft privileged middle class kids unlike the cannon fodder sent to the front. They never expected to see combat.
This war is going to start to feel very real to a lot of Russians when Putin orders their homes to be flattened in order to slow down the Ukrainian advance.
So much for NATO expansion.

I’m enjoying watching the Russians moan in the media about Ukraine disrupting the “peaceful enjoyment of life” of Russian civilians in this region.
It’s both a hypocritical statement, and such schadenfreude to see – at least all the Ukrainians are doing is conducting military operations – it’s not like they are torturing, raping or forcibly displacing the Russian citizens, unlike the Russians in Ukraine.

This absolutely blows my mind. Like…. there’s no way Ukraine planned for the idea they’d get free run of the place. They probably hoped for a raid, optimal damage and then retreat in good order once they met solid resistance. Now they’re sitting like the first to arrive at a party.

This whole thing reeks of junior officers taking the initiative, and pressing on a weak point in the line without realizing how much it leaves them exposed. Now more resources will have to be committed to the breakthrough, when it is sorely needed in the east. Best case scenario, they retreat and mock Russia for incompetence. Worst case they are overrun and routed, and another border bulge needs to be plugged while more lives and resources are lost. This whole thing is a mistake!
The Ukrainians are just taking out the Nazis. The Russians are the ones who started this shit show and the Ukrainians are taking the fight to the enemy.
