Far-right rallies abandoned amid warnings of 10-year sentences

1. I know people will say it infringes upon freedom of speech but considering how the last far right rallies turned out and how they are with the AFD in Germany having a deterrent is important

2. Amazing that the people really concerned about immigration are not concerned enough to have a simple peaceful protest, make their point and avoid getting locked up.

3. The far-right has made a complete fool of themselves these past few weeks. They first spread obvious lies about the murderer, then attack religious premises on that lie, then attack the police because why the hell not, and now they cower because the anti-racist showed up and protested peacefully. The crowd that they want to gain sympathy from is also the crowd that believes in strong law and order. By causing havoc and chaos they have completely stunted their popularity amongst right-wingers. While at the same time the left walked away united and strengthened.

4.  I’m pretty on the fence about most things but I think the Government have done a pretty stand up job on this, acted quickly and what appears to be effectively, if we still had the tories I imagine they’d still have their hands in their pockets. 

5. Don’t think it’s also a coincidence that football league matches started this weekend as well coinciding with this.

   The way that I’ve seen some football fans yell abuse at players during a match was eerily similar to those at the riots.

6. So they can be tough on rioters, find enough police and prison places to deal with them, yet all the rapists and pedophiles get suspended sentences or a measly 2 months in jail? Fuck off.

7. Excellent, it’s good to see the violent far-right thugs being harshly sentenced for racist violence.

   The far right terrorists have been stupid enough to spew their hate in front of cameras and literally tell everyone they are doing it, so the law can move quickly.

   Funny they can’t even rely on each other to protest peacefully and not get locked up.

8. I try really hard to understand why are you guys celebrating this. I was born in communist country without freedom to protest. Looks like any protest in UK can be named violent ( how much violence makes protest violent?). What are you guys happy about it? ( It’s right wing now, but what if the left going to be fed up in the future). You are letting your rights to be taken willingly and you celebrate it. I’m very left leaning person, and i really don’t understand this.We call it the “salami method”. Just keep cutting…

Another version: most of those “far right are going to riot in X on date Y, high confidence leak from internal chat” were fakes/trolls that kept everyone on their toes for one or other reason and now everyone is fed up with it and no one’s interested. Just look at how many reports of upcoming protests were there and how many actually happened (none?). Do you really think that those people suddenly got scared of anti-protests? Don’t think so. They weren’t real to begin with. The only “far rights” that turned up for those, in very limited numbers, are ones who got caught on that trolling themselves. I believe one of the anti protest organisers even admitted that protest warnings issued by them were faked but for the right cause or something.

    So yeah, everyone got played. Who did it or why – we’d better find out and punish them for fear mongering and hate incitement

11. The far right planned a parade through Morecambe today, a beautiful sunny day with families strolling along the prom and playing on the beach. In the end, fifteen racists did the walk of shame along the prom to the war memorial. It took them one and a half hours to do half a mile as anti-racists had gathered by the Eric Morecambe statue and the racists were a little apprehensive about walking past. It was reported that they had stopped for an ice cream en route and didn’t know whether to continue or not. In the event, it went unnoticed by most people.
