I had a similar situation I was driving literally only 5 meters into the non-bycicle area (the metal things were you put your bikes are located there). And a boomer lady legit jumped at me with both arms raised and ‘said’ (it was almost screaming) i’m not allowed to ride here. I swear she tried to scare me so I fall of the bike.
Boomer germans hate bicycle drivers, that’s why the CDU for example has election posters here saying ‘STOP discrimination against car drivers’ while you almost get run over by a cars at least once when you take a long bike ride here in Berlin. My car driving teacher also once told me ‘only a dead bycicle driver is a good bycicle driver”
It’s the City of Erfurt, and all around the Anger riding a bicycle is explicitly BANNED. That’s not something new, and there are even signs at all entrances with the times when it is legal to ride bicycles.
cyclists in germany often enjoy a terrible rep, which sadly is pretty deserved….in citites they drive around like they have absolutely nothing left to lose, just a few days ago I was almost run over by some woman on a bike who HAD HER KID WITH HER, driving on the wrong side of the road. They run red lights and sadly have a higher than normal percentage of straight assholes, treating cars, pedestrians and other cyclists like shit.
In my city we are allowed to ride bikes in pedestrian-only zones, problem is that these assholes will LARP as kamikaze pilots, going around at insane speeds even though the entire street is packed with people walking.
I can understand this guy (even though he obviously went way too far!)
