Met seeks limits to Sue Gray No 10 parties report

  1. Makes me suspicious that it will name or mention a police constable somehow neglecting his or her duties, or being afraid to challenge someone in Downing Street.

  2. So presumably this is the reason for the delays. A redacted report that can’t include any of the information that would have both prompted public outrage, and votes of no confidence to 1922. The Met are corrupt and not impartial

Edited to add: The reason this is such a big deal is that Sue Gray’s report viewed the actions through a ministerial conduct lens – which should be to a much higher standard – the focus of the discussion of late has been whether Boris lied to Parliament, which arguably is a cause for resignation. The Met will be viewing things through a criminality lens. What that means is a significant number of potentially egregious actions by the PM or other senior ministers will fall through the gap between the Sue Gray report and the Met investigation. We should all be furious that such a brazenly corrupt act is taking place, particularly in the days/weeks to come when Boris and the Tories hold up both the redacted report and the police investigation as clear evidence that no wrongdoing was found. I can only hope Sue Gray and her team are as frustrated as we are, and that there is a leak of an early, unredacted draft.

  3. It would be good if the Met removed its dick out of the matter and let Sue do her job.

They’ve never been interested in such matters before, so this unexpected intervention wreaks of corruption and it’s doing a lot more harm than good IMO.

  4. Of course this was coming, bent bastards.

If they fuddle this investigation it’s proof we have a corrupt government and corrupt police force.

  5. This is extremely suspicious. It looks like the Met investigation could actually help the government in the end. They’ll use it as excuse not to publish the full report so it waters down the whole thing, then the Met conclude there’s not enough evidence to prosecute anyone once they later finish their own investigation. Thus helping the worst of the allegations avoid the news cycle without anyone facing actual consequences.

  6. “The force said it has not asked for publication to be delayed.

In a statement on Friday, it added it had not asked for “any limitations” on what Ms Gray says about gatherings that are not being investigated by its officers.”

So they haven’t asked for it to be delayed- just that it can’t include any information about any gathering that’s got enough evidence to prove it was illegal.

  7. *”The Met Police has asked an internal inquiry into alleged lockdown parties at No 10 to make “minimal reference” to any events it is investigating.”*

You can publish whatever you want in your inquiry about parties as long as it doesn’t mention any of the parties.

  8. It hasn’t even been 24 hours since Boris assured everyone the report would be published in full. The fact the Met are limiting it makes him a liar. Or, more of a liar. Again.

  9. This is now full blown tyranny. Police bullying public inquiries so the bent coppers at the top can cover for a corrupt PM and staff.

Pounds to the penny that this investigation has found out something major and they’re being hamstrung to not publish it.

  10. Step 1: delay delay delay
step 2: wait for imminent Russia invasion of Ukraine
Step 3: release report during mania of war
Step 4: report swept under carpet, because war
Step 5: Boris tries his best to become Churchill
    Step 6: CON+10

  11. Let’s be frank, the officers on duty knew about the parties and the Sue Gray report was going to say as much.

That’s why the Met finally got involved…. Their own criminality was about to become impossible to ignore.

Now they’re cherry picking the embarrassing evidence to suppress.

  12. Uh,oh. End result ? There was some naughtiness and some sacrificial lambs will have to pay a fine. The gray report will say there was a cavalier attitude to the regulations at no 10 but following the police involvement any punishment will be as a result of that investigation.
A triumphant Boris will say that the government will ensure tightening of any future protocols and those staff members in breach of regulations will face the appropriate fines from the police investigation. And everyone will be standing around going fucking hell , what just happened?

  13. This game is rigged. First they didn’t want to investigate. Then why did they suddenly change their mind? So they can limit contents of the report.

  14. Well played by conservative party stooge Cressida Dick.

This will completely gut the report, Boris can declare victory and in six months time they’ll quietly post out a few fines.

He’s not going anywhere. He’s the most Tory Tory of all time. Personifies corruption in the damn of self glorification.

  15. There must be at least one civil servant in Gray’s department willing to leak the full thing, surely?

  16. There’s no such thing as prejudicing a police investigation by the way, only prejudicing a jury trial (which lockdown breaches aren’t serious enough to warrant). So this is the Met just doing the government a favour.

What happens from here is pretty clear. The report gets published with all the worst stuff removed, then the police investigation gets quietly dropped a few days later due to ‘insufficient evidence’. The PM gets away with it again, and Cressida Dick gets a nice cosy seat in the House of Lords.

The establishment doing what it does best.

  17. I said it from the start – it is a set up. Met investigation will take months and SG report gutted of any detail would be insufficient for Johnson to go.

  18. I don’t normally let these things bother me. I’ve always known the corruption is widespread, everyone knows this. But its actually at a point now when it’s making me feel a bit sick in all honesty.

Sue needs to blow the lid off the whole thing. Then maybe get the fuck out the country or something.

  19. A month a ago: We don’t investigate past breaches of covid restrictions.

A week ago: We will start an investigation, but we won’t hand out anything more than a fine, so Sue Grays report wouldn’t be interfering with our investigation and she is free to publish what she likes.

Today: Sue Grays report may interfere with our investigation, she will have to be restrictive in what she says.

Gee, makes you think they should’ve started their investigation when the public were crying out for it and not when the report is about to come out. Doesn’t make them seem even slightly impartial…

  20. Cressida following orders. Fucking lapdog, pathetic bent copper.

This whole thing stinks, Johnson stinks, Dick and the Met stink, the Tories fucking stink. These people hold the nation they are elected to serve with utter contempt.

  21. I mean nobody seriously believed that Cressida Dick had a change of heart and suddenly decided to do the right thing. I saw this coming a mile off – investigate so that everything related to the investigation gets redacted, then drag the investigation out for six months, a year, two years…long enough that the public forget about it, and long enough that the conservatives hope that people forgot that they’re supposed to publish it.

You hate to see it actually happening in real time though.

  22. Just the corrupt Met being the Met. This is no suprise at all. The day after its confirmed in Parliament that Boris has to publish the report to the House of Commons library, suddenly the damn police step in and say, they need to limit it LOL.

The show continues. I’m waiting for when the upcoming economic crash is somehow gonna be labour’s fault even though the conservatives have been in power now for over 10 years.

  23. And the right wing media will gloss over this and claim that everything is perfectly normal and there’s no sign of any corruption and that Boris is doing his very best… after all they are already claiming that the UK needs to stop getting so wound up over a simple party.

The worst thing is the rabid tory believers will be out parroting all this BS and claiming that Boris is being hounded and he did nothing wrong, he was purely ambushed without warning.

This country is so fucked with the vast majority of the media (over 95%) owned by just 4-5 right wing billionaires that will claim “black is white” to keep their pet Tories in control in this Elected Dictatorship that we suffer with…. Fuck the lot of them

  24. Let me see, Cressida Dick – the officer that managed to avoid resignation during the brutal beating of innocent women holding a vigil last year, [prominently supported by Boris Johnson](https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1499487/Met-Police-live-reforms-Cressida-Dick-resign-Sarah-Everard-murder-Wayne-Couzens) – is now exerting pressure and influence over the publishing of a report that would be very damning for that very Boris Johnson who helped her previously…

It’s a clear case of “if you rub my back, I’ll rub yours”, isn’t it?
