  1. Ah no. This is the last thing the country needs. Regardless of what the circumstances are of this situation, you know there’s going to be a subsection on X in particular engaging in the same thing they did in the aftermath of the Southport incident.

  2. Let’s see what information comes out. There is nothing to go by currently, at least not from the BBC link above.

  3. This is really sad, hoping they both recover. Knife crime has been an issue in the UK for such a long time and it’s sad to see that it’s extending beyond gang on gang violence to the point where even children are victims.

  4. Jesus fucking christ, can the world stop now?

I just want to get off.

  5. We should wait for further information before speculating, this could be a domestic, a botched robbery, any number of things.

But I will speculate on whether we have more ‘random’ stabbings than we used to, there may be many reasons why we didn’t hear of them before but I’m fairly sure they just didn’t happen very often in the past.

  6. We can’t even go 1 week without a single atrocity anymore. This country is truly doomed.

  7. It says “In a post on X” but I can’t see anything about it on the Metropolitan Police twitter.

    edit: now in the article

  8. Why are people acting like knife crime isn’t through the roof currently? This is the main problem that Labour need to sort. Not fucking around with Rioters

  9. it’s amazing how people aren’t worried about the girl or the woman but their worry is more about the race and immigrant status of the attacker/attackers.

  10. Hopefully labour will introduce more stop and search in hotspot areas, as this is ridiculous.

  11. To paraphrase the great Philosopher Shrek

“CAN YOU STOP STABBING PEOPLE FOR FIVE MINUTES!?!?!?”

  12. Both the girl and woman’s condition are currently unknown. I hope they both make it out safely.

  13. This is meant as a general comment: When are these cowardly scum going to pick on people that can fight back…

  14. Grim.

As always the most important people here are the victims and hoping that they fully recover.

  15. This is happening so often it’s hard to even keep up… have they even caught the person that stabbed / killed the London bus driver from last week yet?!

  16. Just rename the sub r/murderwatch at this rate or r/ethnicityoftheattacker as that’s all we get now

  17. … Outside the LEGO Store in Leicester Square? What an odd place to stab someone.

  18. Details not officially released yet – be very weary of anyone who claims they know what happened until the official story is known.

Needless to say, yet another knife crime incident. There are some serious problems in our country.

  19. Well done, Abdullah! Takes a brave man to take on a man with a knife and a hero to do it for someone else.

  20. The year up to March 2024, there has been 50,510 reordered Knife crime offences across England and Wales

That’s ~139 every single day, it’s getting a bit ridiculous now.

  21. Let’s hope the girl and woman are fine…

Note that the guy who stopped the attacker is called Abdullah so not sure how Twitter/Facebook will spin this one…

  22. All you’ll see people comment on this thread is that “crime has fallen”.

The only comparison for modern day Britain is the Britain of the past. Stabbing. Who cares? Crime was actually higher in 1980, didn’t you know? We’re safe. Advanced.

The only other comparison they’ll make is America. Actually, forget their guns, America has a higher stabbing rate too!!!

It’s perverse. They will never ever compare ourselves to the actually developed nations of the east.

This just doesn’t happen in Japan. Or Taiwan. Or the UAE. Or Singapore.

But to this point, I’ll only get replies here about – we’re basically the same.

How the fact that the violent crime rates are 5x, 10x, 15x lower doesn’t actually matter, because, didn’t you know? These are all very small numbers regardless.

Having a murder rate 5 times Singapore is fine, because 5 times a small number is still a small number.

Which is why Zimbabwe is just as safe a country as the UK.

    I’m tired, man.

  23. It’s either this or a rape every day. Sunshine and rainbows

  24. My thoughts are with the poor women. Already seeing a large number of tweets from fake accounts just like after the Southport stabbings. I pray we don’t have the last couple of weeks all over again.

  25. People will brag about the race of the aggressor but every fascist on X wouldn’t be as brave as Abdullah

  26. Let’s not ignore some salient facts which are known. The attacker was male, the victims were female.

  27. There is an epidemic of male violence towards women and girls.

  28. Fuck’s sake, not again, what’s happening to our country‽ God bless brave Abdullah for kicking into action to stop the attack, I hope the victims will be alright 😔

  29. There is an inconvenient conversation that people don’t want to have but it’s not about race/immigration.

The UK is terrible at dealing with crazy people. Deinstitutionalisation means that there is nothing the state can do to isolate such people before they commit a heinous crime. Mental health and psychiatric services are a Byzantine system that fully functional people have a great difficulty navigating and getting care out of, forget about Schizophrenics who say they are perfectly fine and don’t need to be medicated.

There was a middle age woman washing her feet and shaving her legs at my local playground. Brought her own water and tub. Her hair was half shaved and she was screaming gibberish and nonsense at everyone who passed her by. Emergency services wouldn’t be able to address the issue until an hour later. She packed up and left to another location before anyone could even do a wellness check. If she were so inclined to go up to some seven year old a slash them with a razor blade, there is nothing that could’ve been done to prevent this.

Even if they had gotten a hold of her, it would still be her own responsibility to get care for herself. Do you really think such a person would voluntarily go through several appointments and phone calls to get themselves on anti-psychotic medication?

  30. It’s a bit unusual that in a breaking news story like this they have included a headshot of a witness, included his name (Abdullah) and devoted several sentences to his actions. I don’t think I have seen the BBC do that before with such fresh news.

  31. I’m getting really annoyed at conspiracy theorists using these atrocities to push their own agenda where they get to be the truth seeking hero of the world.

  32. So how will the bigots spin the fact that it was a non white guy named Abdullah who stepped in and stopped the attacker?

Really hoping no one else falls for lies like the ones that sparked the riots last week.

  33. When are we going to start taking the problem of male on female violence seriously? These news stories seem to be one a week at the momentm

  34. BBC UPDATE 14:48 BST:

“The Met said the girl would require hospital treatment but her injuries were not life threatening, while the woman’s injuries were “more minor”. The force said there was no suggestion the incident was terror-related “at this stage”.”
