The bigger issue is that this is happening everyday and we never hear about it.
I’m all for affirmative action but there needs to be a legitimate process for it. Seems like it’s always a botch job or the process is just highly discriminatory.
Thames Valley Police promoted an ethnic minority sergeant ‘without any competitive assessment process taking place’, a tribunal found.
They will hide it better next time and call anyone who speaks out against it as a racist.
What’s this? The thing that never happens happened again?
this is why the british police force is in utter decay. Absolute shambles. it all needs reforming.
Oh it’s another instance of discrimination against white people that I’m told doesn’t happen.
Racialism won’t eliminate racism. You’ll just alienate the majority and it will be counterproductive.
The fact that this had to be taken to court might be an indicator
Sorry, but this is part of the landscape now. It’s happening all the time.
Think of the NHS. Why are they so dependent on non-British national employees, when the whole service was planned, created and staffed originally by the British?
There is an idea hinted at all the time in the commentary that the white working class inherently aren’t up to it. Presumably the idea is that they genetically aren’t capable and smart enough to succeed in the NHS, which requires some kind international of genetic elite, which you can only obtain through immigration.
It’s sheer nonsense. The issue is simply that we’re not training enough people, and white middle class managers are giving preferential treatment to non-British nationals.
I think we would have a stronger service if it were staffed with British nationals, because native-level communication is one of the most important skills. There are all kinds of abstract ideas that simply can’t be conveyed if someone lacks native-level language comptency. I think our services are suffering from this.
The rest of Europe looks at the UK and thinks… what are they doing to themselves?
Been at the end of something similar, it’s an awful feeling knowing your the best candidate but weren’t selected because your white. If you say anything everyone just calls you racist. So you keep quiet and suck it up.
I had a promotion offer withdrew after the application scoring was “reassessed”. The person who got the job was black, no issues with that. What I had an issue with is they were terrible at the job and left after 4 months.
I was later told they were successful for promotion in another part of the country which wasn’t their first preference but failed in my region, they then threatened all kind of legal action because clearly it was racism. It’s obviously not possible for one area of the country to have higher quality candidates……
Wait till the BBC’s employees hear about this, you are in the minority if you aren’t BAME there lol
The media has a hige problem with this too, the BBC won’t hire any working class white people but they will expect us to pay the TV license fee.
Got a friend in the police. It’s happening with women over men as well it’s all about numbers.
PCSO trainer (the guy that trains up all the fresh PCSO’s) was passed over for a job in the police. So who got it? One of the female PCSO fresh recruits… That he trained.
And don’t forget being marched into DEI sessions at gunpoint and being told you’re evil and the scourge of society.
I take it the officer who made this decision and the superintendent who directed it will face no censure or career impairment.
If your a white heterosexual male, your wasting your time trying to get a different job or any kind of promotion. You are bottom of the food chain now.
Any individual that comes under the umbrella of D & I is ahead of you.
This is despite of your qualifications, experience, talent & people skills. They no longer count. If you don’t tick certain boxes you have no chance.
This not a rant purely observational.
When you see a person from a diverse background it makes you wonder are they there because they’re qualified for the job or are they there to meet a quota.
Can’t say I’m surprised. It goes in behind the scenes without any paper trail
Same with the RAF.
Best man/woman for the job is what should matter, not what their skin colour is.
It really is simple and if I’m honest it’s blatant racism.
You mean the lad that got the job I applied for that couldn’t even speak English and was an “international student” was not playing by the rules? **Really?** well *I never* ^…/s
Wow, can’t believe they actually won a common sense case in 2024.
When ethnicity pay gap becomes the standard measure over the gender pay gap, this level of discrimination will increase.
white men being discriminated against? Well this has brought the astroturfers out with vengeance.
Reading the article, it looks like she got told one thing, did it, and fucked up. It’s not indicative of a world wide conspiracy against white men.
Meritocracy of public services should be taken absolutley seriously by everybody. It’s totally irresponsible and frankly dangerous that the people we depend on to provide emergency intervention are ideologically captured to this extent.
There should be a 0 tolerance policy on quota hiring in emergency services. It’s just wrong to put others lives at risk so you can pat yourself on the back for being “anti racist”
I worked for TVP for 5 years and we had a wildly under qualified team member who we were literally told fulfilled the BAME quota. We all had to fill their knowledge gaps and cover their work when they couldn’t meet the requirement’s.
> She then tried to “retrospectively justify” the decision by saying the appointment came under a “BAME Progression Program which clearly did not exist at the time”.
You can tell most people here have not even skimmed the article
Funny how predictable this comment section is. Didn’t see most of them out the woodworks when a black woman won her case against the army for discrimination
Can people claim without having their name out in the press?
Some people will discriminate against you for even claiming
No one believed the article TUC research which showed most minorities in this country are actively discriminated against and they’re stuck in insecure work and zero hour contracts compared to white British people.
The top comment in that post brushed it away by saying “thousands of them arrived unskilled so that’s why they have these awful jobs”.
The same people who upvoted that comment are claiming to be victims here.
I wish they also recognised when minorities are discriminated against. I’ve seen it where white colleagues have been promoted to jobs and I haven’t been.
The highest paying companies in my industry/niche profession post openly gender discriminatory hiring policies, and flaunt them for advertising. Those who don’t understand the industry and profession love it!
And everyone seems to believe it’s only the right wing of the political spectrum that stokes racism
It’s actually the modern centre left and the current far right
