  1. He just thinks he can do what he wants with his money and friends, simply shut X down if he doesn’t comply!

  2. If the US won’t bring these companies to heel, Europe will! He’s literally a Russian agent.

  3. A good reminder that speech has consequences, and if you speech causes said consequences you’ll answer for them

  4. Dear Melon Usk, never fuck around with a French breton.

  5. So it begins.

People need to understand that the EU does everything, and I mean ‘everything’ by the book.

That means it moves slowly, but it also means when the gears start moving, the people in charge have all the information and tools available to really make things difficult, as can be seen by mega-corporations like Apple and Microsoft even being brought to heel when needed.

Time for Elon to hide in his wanna-be-nazi box and not come out again until 2531

  6. Enough warnings has been given already. Shut down that cesspool.

  7. Can someone explain what this is about and what does this mean ? I am stoopid

  8. We may have our problems, but I’m so glad to be an European citizen, so much better than the shithole the US has become thanks to Trump and his army of morons.

  9. Good EU, I hope the UK follows you in holding X (and others) to account

  10. Is this the same EU commission that tried to bribe Musk to secretly censor free speech, and it backfired as Musk didn’t comply like other big social media sites but instead went public ?

  11. What is this letter even saying? Are they saying that Musk can’t live stream an interview with a presidential candidate?

  12. I am an ignorant French, what does “interim measures” means?

  13. Just lock X in the EU. It brings nothing positive and gives misinformation to people that can’t distinguish it from the truth.

  14. How can anyone take EU’s side on this?? This is censorship. “Protect EU citizens from ‘harm'” ? What harm? Oh, you mean information. I seriously hope Elon will provide free Starlink to people who want to circumnavigate censorship

  15. And while I saw the meaning in Twitter, I really struggle to see the point of X other than causing chaos around the world by spreading disinformation and giving the stage to radical far-left and far-right parties.

X needs to be banned on EU market, period.

  16. Get right in there Thierry. You’re my second favourite Thierry aside from that Henry chap.

  17. I’d be very happy if that E-Long Mà would finally disappear from this worlds attention focus.

Let’s talk about the weather instead!

  18. I ain’t reading all that, but it seems it made twitter nazis really mad so godspeed

  19. “Tell the truth and let people say what they want….but only the truth that we want you to tell and things we want them to say.

  20. Would have loved this more if they’d just kept calling it “Twitter”.

  21. Dumb question, but what can the EU *realistically* do if Elon doesn’t comply?

  22. Hopefully EU starts hurting X sooner than later because X has been extremely lackluster on enforcing DSA to the point that I still get harassed with death threats, incitement of harassment and other wishes of harm from <1month old accounts daily, who then promptly get found to have “nothing wrong” on them.

This is amplified in huge parts by the fact that moderation is 95% automated and moderation has a 2+ week turnover rate. This is beyond the fact I suspect there are background algorithms going on in how to moderate, including some accounts being arbitrarily giving more or less value to certain accounts.

As an individual user it’s extremely frustrating how powerless you are in making a change for the better for this. I shouldn’t be subject to automation tools when it comes to human conduct, and I’m pretty sure the EU has laws against it.

  23. I love that we’re finally moving into the “find out” stage of our timeline.

  24. Incredible. A Eurocrat declares political content he disagrees with to be “racist” or “insensitive” and therefore will CENSOR it so Europeans can’t see it.

    Utterly Orwellian.

  25. People need to stop using that platform, I don’t know what governments are still on it.

  26. Who wants to make a bet that he will close X in the EU?

It’s not the first site which, when you log in, gives you a message that because you’re from the EU and they can’t comply with the rules, they’re stopping your access but “they are working hard so solve this issue”

  27. Great news. All social media companies need to comply with EU rules.

  28. “I know you are but what am I?”

    – Elon Musk, probably.

  29. Looking forward to watching Elon Musk get absolutely fucked by the EU. Long time coming.
