TLDR; Utilities took on a lot of debt to produce power for us. Transitioning to different technology requires more debt and destroying something that is otherwise still working. So the triple win is to share the cost savings of renewables with utilities to pay off the debt they took on for us so that they’ll actually be able to transition to renewables for us.
