2. From a technical point of view, they probably have draft articles ready for publish.

   Minimal details, but some specifics – say, ‘X Yed by Z in London’, category ‘London, Crime’ and a few other bits, maybe a stock image of a crowd or police tape, etc.

   Means they can throw an article up in 3 minutes rather than 7. It could be that in this case, the article has the published date set to a few days ago as part of the meta data.
