My wife and I just recently spent four incredible days in Porto, and it's quickly become one of our favourite cities in Europe. We wanted to share some of the highlights from our trip—our favourite things to do, the best places we ate (even though we didn't stick to much Portuguese food!), and a few tips on where to stay. Porto is absolutely picturesque, but be ready for those hills! Check out our recommendations below.
Things to Do:
- Watch a Show at Casa da Música: We caught an opera here, and it was absolutely breathtaking, it even moved us to tears! The venue is amazing, with incredible acoustics that make the experience unforgettable. ~Casa da Música~
- Walk Across the Ponte Luís I Bridge: If you’re afraid of heights, this might be a bit daunting, but the views are worth it! The bridge is a marvel, with trams passing by and two levels to explore—be sure to cross both the top and bottom.
- Relax at Jardim do Morro: The perfect spot to catch the sunset. Grab a drink, listen to live music, and soak in the atmosphere. There are plenty of takeaway bars nearby, or you can buy drinks from vendors with coolers. The vibe here is so good, that we kept coming back.
- Stroll Along the River in Ribeira: This area is a bit touristy but still worth it for a leisurely walk along the river. Stop for a glass of vinho verde along the way and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
Restaurants:
- Pastel de Natas: Indulge in these traditional Portuguese tarts—they’re incredible!
- Ramen Me: Incredible ramen with amazing customer service. They offer lots of vegetarian and vegan options too. We came her twice in our 4-day trip ~Ramen Me~
- Espécie – Restaurante Vegetarian: Delicious vegetarian food! The portions are generous, so when they suggest 3-4 dishes for two people, they mean it. Everything is super tasty. ~Espécie – Restaurante Vegetarian~
- Indian Garden: Excellent Indian cuisine with super polite and accommodating staff. The décor could use a little upgrade, but the food and service more than make up for it. You can customise the spice level of your curries, and we were really impressed. ~Indian Garden~
Hotels:
- Arts Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton: A fantastic new hotel with spotless, well-equipped rooms and incredibly helpful staff. We’d stay here again every time. Hotel Link
- Hospes Infante Sagres Porto: If you’re after 5-star luxury, this is the place. The lobby is stunning, with a timeless, elegant feel. It’s the perfect spot to indulge in some old-world luxury. Hotel Link

Quem te viu e quem te vê…
Oh really? Imagine before being invaded by tourists and “refugees”.
Thanks for visiting. Please do not move in
First I’ve seen a tourist provide a tourism itinerary to the locals 😂
