Sky News’ military analyst Michael Clarke on Ukraine War latest: ‘They have a plan’

Ukraine’s invasion of the Kursk region of Russia is now well-organised, with elite troops being rotated in and out of battle.

Professor Michael Clarke, said Ukrainian reinforcements were being formed, with Kyiv also appearing to be trying to insulate the Kursk pocket from the neighbouring Belgorod area of Russia.

However, there is no evidence Russia is pulling soldiers from the front line in Donbas and in the south of Ukraine to defend the territory.

  7. It's a trap. It's always been about the south. Russian forces are days away from taking chasiv yar after which the war is over.

  10. The 'plan' was that Ukraine wanted to divert troops from the Donbass to the north to start the summer offensive there. Now that they are only contained there and Putin has diverted only reserve troops from Kursk, the plan did not really work. The problem is now that the few troops Ukraine has left, are now used in the north. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

  13. Ukraine is done, that's way there last stand is to go in Russia, because they can't defend there land. If they get loose in Russia it's over

  17. I believe Kursk is the gateway to Moscow which is about 350 miles north. Most of Russia's army is south and about twice as many miles south of Moscow. If Ukraine continue north, I believe this will motivate Putin to stop the war and give Ukraine back all of its land.

  22. this attack makes 0 logical sense to me other than a last effort to get leverage during peace talks..why would ukraine go into russia with special forces and elite units instead of reinforcing the eastern front where it is desperatly needed?? they basically abandoned their men for a PR win..

  24. There is no Russian bear. They have thrown everything they can at the Ukraine. There is no massive pool of manpower or equipment left.

  30. Ukraine did this as a FUNDRAISER. That is the only plan. The corrupt Govt is wasting resources in a fight with zero strategic purpose. Stupid and Evil.
