Do yall really live like this? Is it normal? I had
to go to sleep at 3 am, cause only then the
temperature became normal. Rn sitting in the
shadows, 36 degrees, rethinking life choices.

  1. Absolutely not normal. It’s even worse in the balkans right now

  2. nah this one is extreme. There was one more heat wave like this in July. Definitely not standard. We are cooked as well

  3. wdym, its all over Europe, letalone Southern Europe you have places close to 40 degrees.

  4. there is no global warming you are just imagining it 😉

BTW its a bit better outside of Bratislava, and in the mountains and close to forests it is much better

  5. last couple of years its like this , Winters used to be a full of snow, nowadays there is no snow or only few days a year, when i was a kid i remember i was melting in 25 degrees now i am melting in 30+ and i live in a quite *COLD* area for Slovakia

  6. Problem is, Bratislava specifically is not designed to handle such weather.

There are many places where there are no trees, long streets with no shade, cement parking lots with tiny “decoration” trees which barely make any shade.

This year the city cut down bunch of trees, right on the path I walk to get home, so now the walk is especially hellish because the pavement is basically being roasted by sun, non stop since 7~am

  7. It’s not normal. Only hotter places than europe (especially central and balkans) are sahara, arabian peminsula, iraq and iran.

Hell, you could go to equatorial africa to cool down at this point.

  8. in the past there were no such warm summers in Slovakia. Nowadays it is difficult to survive in summer without air conditioning.

  9. It is kind of normal last few years. But this year it’s really different because it’s like this all summer. You get used to it.

  10. Would you be comfortable to answer where you’re from? When I was in Italy, there was almost 40°C outside every day, 2 weeks later, when my holidays ended, I felt like 30°C was completely okay in my home town, despite all the warnings from SHMÚ.

  11. It’s getting more hot every year and the humidity is rising, especially in the southwest of Slovakia. Fun nice summers from my childhood are over.

  12. The weather is definitely hotter in last decades. Now there plants like figues grow here (I live near Bratislava) which was not possible decades ago. Winter with no snow is a standard in last 10 years and the heatwaves like this one are soul crushing. Hopefully it will get better next week but this week – we have to survive.
