The Royal family will be taking on more environmentally friendly measures as shown in the annual accounts for the Royal Household.

This new plans are part of a wider sustainability push and is expected to happen within the next year.

  4. I wouldn't consider electric cars to be environmentally friendly. The building of these cars, thanks to those massive batteries, that weigh more than an equivalent engine, is environmentally a desaster. The tires are said to produce more dust due to the high friction. Bio fuel? OK. Electric? Should be revised and seen at global impact, not just local.

  18. Electric cars sound good on paper. But how are they charged? Here in the US diesel and coal are used to create the electricity to charge electric cars…

  20. I remember when the Queen received the new Bentley limousine, she reportedly told her chauffeur, "What really matters is how it handles at five miles per hour". Converting them to electric makes a lot of sense. It moves very slowly for relatively short distances. After parking it at the palace it will have plenty of time to recharge.

  23. I can't imagine how an automobile from the 1960's can be properly converted to electrical??? They have several plus the one from the 1950's at the Royal Mews. It cost Neil Young over a million dollars to convert his 1959 Lincoln Continental to electric!!
