In Pennsylvania, Harris can’t shake her anti-fracking past | The vice president’s history of hostility toward fossil fuels creates an acute political challenge in a must-win state.

  1. I recommend the following to get involved:

    * [Check your voter registration](https://iwillvote.com/) – part of the Republican strategy is cancelling peoples registrations so they can’t vote
    * [Volunteer](https://www.mobilize.us/?q=harris) — there’s nothing quite like talking with people, particularly about at least some of [what the Inflation Reduction Act has done](https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/08/07/ira-climate-credits-homeowners/?pwapi_token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJyZWFzb24iOiJnaWZ0IiwibmJmIjoxNzIzMDAzMjAwLCJpc3MiOiJzdWJzY3JpcHRpb25zIiwiZXhwIjoxNzI0Mzg1NTk5LCJpYXQiOjE3MjMwMDMyMDAsImp0aSI6IjUxNDU5YTZhLTQ4M2EtNGNkOC04ZmIyLTFkNjU4M2I5YWI3ZiIsInVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3Lndhc2hpbmd0b25wb3N0LmNvbS9idXNpbmVzcy8yMDI0LzA4LzA3L2lyYS1jbGltYXRlLWNyZWRpdHMtaG9tZW93bmVycy8ifQ.C11KLOsZ35QFA1rED2GOx0xXFZpZVy9dJ0X9NppK-1Q)
    * [Donate](https://secure.kamalaharris.com/a/hvf-2?attr=113172809) — ads, phonebanking tools, materials for volunteers, and the likes cost money. If you’re able to [attend an in-person fundraiser](https://www.reddit.com/r/climate/comments/1axsac1/how_to_influence_the_us_election_towards_climate/) so much the better.

  2. The idea that the population of any state is “pro-fracking” is ludicrous. Oil company CEOs are pro-fracking. No one else is. People in PA HATE what coal strip mining and fracking have done to their state. Even people who go to work at “Fracking, Inc.” hate it.

The population may be pro-jobs, and a small percentage of the population may work in fossil fuels. Those interests can easily be severed by making the correct pitch: “We’ll bring in lots of green jobs putting up solar panels, and we’ll retrain people working in fossil fuels for free. Your water won’t taste like coal any more.”

  3. Uhhhh, it’s not a liability, it’s one of her biggest saving graces. Pennsylvanians don’t like fracking, oligarch donors do. And it’s about time Pennsylvanians said “screw you” to pro-fracking oligarch donors.

  4. Bullshit article, no way people are in general Pro-Fracking. Reeks of big oil propaganda.
