  1. Sorry, wasn’t I hearing her soundbites all over the radio today exclaiming she can provide all the evidence she wants of her fantastic tenure?
This is in slight contradiction, no?

  2. Well the Tories have gone with their usual tactic of attacking someone to distract from their own corruption; but she’s rolled over so fast it only reinforces the idea that stepping down is the right thing to do if the mud sticks.
Who will BoJo go after next ?

  3. I feel that the upper ups in No 10 forced her out. Just a few hours ago she was adamant that she was going to stay as Head of the Met, then suddenly the BBC (with its links to government) is breaking the news that she’s stopping down. That way they shift the blame for Partygate on the Met, instead of going after the person (or persons) who was responsible in the first place.

  4. Bear with me on this one, but why have people clamoured for her to go so fervently? I’m aware of the Everard case etc. I just don’t recall seeing that enthusiasm for canning a leader of an org other than for political parties.

  5. Guess she realised she is in charge of a poisonous unreformable organisation accountable to a poisonous unreformable government.

  6. Sadiq Khan P4P best politician in the country right now. Took one “I think you’re a bit shit” and she was gone

  7. I don’t like this. The issues are systemic. This will just allow the police to say the problem is gone and to carry on as normal. The culture needs tackling because her replacement will be just as awful. She’s a fall guy.

  8. I wonder if we’ll find out in the papers tomorrow. If one of them has the dirt, it only be a small story and will be on the front cover in big text… nobody willl notice

  9. >**”In a statement, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was “not satisfied” with Dame Cressida’s response to the report.”**

Which report did he mean though?, The Government is obviously tarnishing the Met Police because they hold the power to act upon the Sue Grey report, so will any of us be surprised when one of Boris’s chums is announced as her successor.

  10. Johnson bribed her and part of it was her leaving. Watch the Met investigation be “suspended” now while they “restructure”

  11. It was on her orders that Jean Charles de Menzes was pursued by Met Police officers in 2005 and subsequently shot in the head – falsely accused of being responsible for the London bombings.

  12. From a [Sky](https://news.sky.com/story/met-police-commissioner-dame-cressida-dick-is-leaving-her-job-sky-news-understands-12538528) article:

    >Sadiq Khan put the Met Police Commissioner “on notice” last week after the police watchdog published messages sent by officers that used sexist, racist and homophobic language.
He said his entire trust in the Met hinged on her coming up with a robust plan for dealing with the behaviour.
But he said he was “not satisfied” with the commissioner’s response and in a statement on Thursday evening said: “On being informed of this, Dame Cressida Dick has said she will be standing aside.

Bet she thought her Powerpoint presentation to Khan really zinged.

  13. oh noes, she’s going to be terribly missed. she did such a great job at helping her tory mates out, make some speeches about how she’s sorry and let corruption run rampant under her watch. hopefully the next person is competent but I doubt it.
