1. Hungary gets all the attention but Austria is so deeply compromised

11. I basically never heard anything about Austria, but from what I’ve read they’re actually quite pro Russian and just getting a pass from Europe. I would be happy if anyone with more knowledge could correct me or expand on this topic

23. Ukraine has announced their intention of no longer forwarding gas from Russia in 2025. This information does not seem to factor through. All the Austrian government is doing is talking about some phase-out plans that are further in the future.
    I’m expecting a ludicrous display of fake-surprise and Ukraine-blaming come 2025 and quite honestly, even when only imagining it I’m sick of it already.

35. the pipe going out of this control centre has been in ukrainian territory for 3 years already so they could have shut it off but they didnt so i dont think they will now

36. Well Austria has done nothing to help Ukraine, not even one bullet. They’ve had 3 years to figure out the gas supply but didn’t bother because they thought Russia would win. They didn’t join NATO but will expect them to defend Vienna if Putin got that far to denazify them. As for Hungary, exports to Russia have increased from $2 million to $86 million this year so they can suck on it also.

37. Austria is also preventing Romania and Bulgaria from entering the Schengen zone (which would benefit Ukrainian people and exports indirectly). Austria is severely compromised by Russian influence.

    Edit after reading the comments: it seems that there is a huge disassociation between Austrian people and Austrian political elites, the latter acting in an ostensibly pro-Russian manner, while the former preferring getting rid of “neutrality” (if I understand correctly,).
