Chechen soldiers ‘seen fighting alongside Russians in Kursk’

The leader of Russia’s Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, published a video clip that he stated showed soldiers from the Chechen battalion ‘Akhmat’, alongside another Russian unit, after a confrontation with Ukrainians in Russia’s Kursk region.

Similar footage from a body camera was being circulated on Telegram channels. This footage showed a military vehicle marked with a triangle and several bodies in Ukrainian uniform all while gunfire could be heard at the location.

Reuters was able to confirm the location where the videos were filmed. The date could not be verified.

On August 13, Russian forces struck back at Ukrainian troops with missiles, drones, and airstrikes in actions that one senior commander said had halted Ukraine’s advance after the biggest attack on sovereign Russian territory since the war began.

Ukrainian soldiers smashed through the Russian border a week ago in a surprise attack that Russian President Vladimir Putin said was aimed at improving Kyiv’s negotiating position ahead of possible talks and slowing the advance of Russian forces along the front.

  1. Oh the irony. It wasn’t to long ago that Russia tried to crush the Chechens, in two different wars. Yet here they are. 🤷‍♂️

  2. These Chechens are opporuntists and a disgrace. Their leader is a nutcase like Putin and his followers are mercenaries pretending to be loyalists.

  3. Chechnya will be free too, in the end. Georgia. Moldovia. All liberated from their respective Russian occupations.
