4. Operational Security is essential – Western intelligence was probably well aware of the planning and preparation prior to any formal disclosures and likely shared intelligence in advance. The fact that Ukraine struck in an area where Russia had only 3 Battalion Tactical Groups present (BTGs are not designed to hold ground but to conduct joint arms actions) shows that the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield was on-point and the incursion well executed.

   Thanks to the response that corrected brigade and battalion.

5. I’m glad they have operational security. We don’t need to know everything they’re doing. The last time politicians ran a war that was in Vietnam and we know how that went.
