  1. Rightfully so, he was the one that wanted to push the limits on this movie and go all in, it’s such a dick move to do that then pull out.

  2. > *According to multiple sources, Phoenix got cold feet in the leadup to the production, though the reasons remain murky. A rep for Phoenix did not respond to a request for comment.*

Until and unless Phoenix gives a valid reason for leaving the film (that HE initiated the making of), then everyone’s anger is justified.

    > * The actor is indeed known to get cold feet ahead of filming on various projects. Two sources tell THR that he threatened to leave Ridley Scott’s Napoleon unless his The Master filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson was brought in to do rewrites. Placated, he stayed aboard the project, and it arrived in theaters late last year.*

Everyone gets nervous about new jobs. It doesn’t mean you get to act like a spoiled diva until you get your way. Oh, wait… in Hollywood, if you’re a name actor, that’s exactly what it means.

    > *As Phoenix once told 60 Minutes’ Anderson Cooper, he’s usually “petrified” when he takes on a role and that before he shoots, he’s “nervous” that he won’t be able to “find the right kind of place to express” his ideas.*

Problem is, Phoenix created this ‘place to express his ideas’ by bringing the film to Haynes and his longtime producers at Killer Films. He had all the time and opportunity in the world to cater to his own ideas and desires on how they should be expressed. Bailing at the last minute is inexcusable in this context, and there should be significant consequences.

  4. The joker 2 press circuit isn’t going to be very kind to him.

  5. This gonna get him blacklisted if it hasn’t already. Also does not bode well for Joker 2.

  6. I’d be curious to know if they changed the script on him. I think that happens often to big names, they get angry about it but do the movie anyway.

  7. Good thing he married into a billionaire family, maybe they can just fund his projects from now on.

  8. I mean when you are the star in a movie that is the highest-grossing Rated-R film ever, you kinda can do whatever the fuck you want.

  9. He should have gone on blood pressure medication. It would have helped him get into the role.
