This is going to sound awful
But that seems surprisingly low.
One of the most disturbing political trends in today’s age is how young men are getting increasingly conservative than older men. So many young men are drawn to people like Andrew Tate, Adin Ross and Jordan Peterson, and their misogynistic attitudes are not lost on their audience. I wonder if there’s anything meaningful our education system can do to reverse this trend.
I wonder if any other trends could come out of the data if it was broken down into religion, race etc?
Or is it racist to ask? I honestly don’t know these days.
Also, how many men are killed by women each year?
Yes we rank as one of the lowest in the world per capita for Femicide Rates
You can check here if interested

If your views around this are:
– The perpetrators of male-on-female violence need more support and understanding
and
– The perpetrators of non-white-on-white violence need to be punished to the full extent of the law and deported
You may want to analyse those feelings in depth. Do you feel more sympathy for one, because you have similar experiences? What are the reasons for the differences in those feelings? Is it because you are “in” one group, and “outside” the other?
Empathy is powerful. And if you feel attacked because a group you’re a member of is being criticised, there is something to learn from that emotion.
Well that was a depressing read, a few stood out. There is a manslaughter in there which I feel doesn’t really fit, what really stood out is how almost all are by people they knew and often family members.
The lady from Thailand and the children almost broke me.
Also the sheer amount of old women killed is ridiculously alarming because it’s clearly killing someone you know hasn’t a chance to protect themselves.
I also spotted a face I knew and didn’t even know she’d died so that wasn’t fun either.
We need more high security psychiatric facilities. Once you have determined that someone is some variety of pathological narcissist who is a danger to others they cannot simply be allowed to walk the streets unless and until they have been treated. I have no doubt many of the perps will have demonstrated these tendencies already and will have been known to the police. The criminal justice system simply is not capable of dealing with this type of person. They cannot be “corrected” in this way and require psychological intervention.
Once they are suitably institutionalized, if the doctors believe they still pose a threat to society then they cannot leave but if they are given a prison sentence, once they have served their time in prison they are free to stalk the streets again.
The comments saying this seems low, I think are a bit misinformed. We definitely live in a fear-culture, which is why some of the horrible stories of murder and kidnapping have captured the public consciousness in the way they have in the last few years. Obviously murders happen, but the notion that all women need to be suspicious of all men has definitely played into people’s expectations here.
There are a massive number of comments demonising all men here, the same people rightly criticising the far right demonising all muslims/immigrants for the actions of a few. Have some self awareness…
Anyone (male or female!) looking for a reasonable discussion about men’s issues, and men’s current place in the world might find this podcast with George TheTinMen a useful starting point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzK0l1LE1BE
If you’ve got a son, a brother, a father, a husband, or some other male in your life who you care about it might be worth a listen.
For balance this podcast with Freya India focuses on some of the issues faced by younger “Gen Z” women and girls [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH0R8zM-MkA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH0R8zM-MkA)
probably also need to know how many:-
**-women killed by women**
**-men killed by men**

Jesus that’s some manipulative bullshit, people would be all over this if the Daily Mail had done something similar.
How did I know this would be immediately hijacked by the ‘but men have it worse’ brigade
I really don’t understand what the guardian is attempting to prove with this article. Why focus on this one specific characteristic, which would be totally unacceptable if it were a list of the women killed by foreigners or a certain religion or race or whatever this year? Such a list might even get you arrested if you posted it on x at this point. The tiny, tiny percentage of men who kill people have nothing in common with me and I won’t be blamed for their actions or made to feel guilty for it. And if you want people to think in such a way, you won’t like the implications, starting with the gender composition of refugees.
There were 582 homicides between march 2023 and march 2024, this isn’t a lot.
Why report that a certain number of a group have been killed by another group, rather than reporting on the phenomenon (murder/homicide) as a whole? It’s really unusual. Can you imagine the headline “50 whites killed by Asians so far this year” (or vice versa or whatever)?
What good does this framing do? People who kill certainly aren’t going to stop because of this presentation. We don’t need awareness of violence against women and girls raised because it’s already at an all-time high, despite that demographic being safer than at any time in history, as well as being considerably safer than men. All it does is make women feel fearful and men feel resentful. (As an aside, some researchers believe that humiliation is the number one motivator of violence. Attempting to humiliate men en masse is the last thing you should do if you want to reduce violence.)
And singling out an area in which women are more fortunate than men, but only highlighting women’s suffering, clearly reveals an agenda. (In 2022/2023, 416 men were murdered and 174 women.)
>In recent years in the UK, a woman has been killed by a man every three days on average
So by the 226th day of the year (13th August), you would expect 75 women to have been killed rather than the actual 50, but I suppose “Fewer women killed by men” wouldn’t get the same number of clicks or further the Guardian’s agenda.
These are the same tactics used by far-right groups against minorities, and they have the same effect – to demonise, instill fear and provide a basis for discriminatory action. The tactics work too – there’s already been one commentator in this thread calling men “animals” and saying they should all be subject to a curfew (comment now deleted).
I don’t want anyone to be murdered.
But most murder victims are men and I feel the focus on women murders has the effect of making women scared, but strangely scared of going out when most murders are done by partner or family member.
If your partner hits you once, leave. It will happen again.
How many women killed men this year?
How many women killed women this year?
How many men killed men this year?
Comparative results please.
And the killed men count? Oh I forgot we don’t talk about that because it means that the do-gooders would be forced to admit that considerably more men are victims of violence than women.
It’s bad but….
“Of the 590 recorded homicides in England and Wales in 2022/23, 416 of the victims were male and 174 of the victims were female.” Source: Statistica
So men kill both men and women. Who’d have thought?
A lot of men’s attitudes towards women in general is shocking. Look on social media in the comment sections of pages owned by women who aren’t conventionally attractive. Endless hate comments from men and boys. Not only that but if you’ve been a bigger woman you know that men in public will degrade you. Nights out, from cars, in the street. Hell even outside the gym for me once. It’s like some men are pissed off if a woman dares to not be their ideal standard of beauty. They must harass you and put you down. And it happens so much more than you’d imagine. It’s sad and pathetic.
For some men it’s like women aren’t people.
I do wonder sometimes if the number of women murdered each year would be higher if women hadn’t been taught since girlhood to modify and even avoid certain behaviours in order to avoid being victimised. And by the same token I wonder if more men are murdered proportionally because they haven’t been.
For every woman who looked at Sarah Everard’s murder and thought, that could’ve been me, there others who’ve thought, that never would’ve happened to me because I would never have walked alone at night.
