One reason why modelling greenhouse gas emissions is so challenging.
> Canada’s “record-shattering” wildfires last year produced nearly as much greenhouse gas emissions in one season as would be expected over a decade of fires in normal circumstances, data has shown.
> The health impacts from last year’s fires will also continue to be felt for decades.
I used to think Canada was a safe haven because of lots of land for farming, forests, and fresh water.
Then my friend told me about Canadian Shield and how much of Canada is unsuitable for growing food. Forests are on fires every year, so that’s no longer attractive. Though Great Lakes are great, many rivers are shrinking, so freshwater will also be a concern. Basically, no place on Earth is safe from the worst impacts of climate change.
