  1. I will miss trying to find you as I will miss the last time I heard an I’iwi in the forests of Koke’e (which was in 2020)

    A hui mau as I know we still have the ability to bring your species back. as with all our endangered species. our state, community and nation just needs the will to make that happen

  2. Very sad. This has been predicted for decades. Hopefully breeding and at some point cloning can bring back a viable flock.

  3. What a gut punch to read – I can’t even fathom being one of the biologists or natives who work and live with the species. I’m silently sobbing in my bed. It’s the vaquita all over again…and it’s going to keep happening over and over and ugh. Fuck what we’ve done.
