  2. Well yea that’s what you would expect if you make the entire population poorer. Landlords start selling their houses, tenants start refusing to pay rent until it’s reduced.

  3. Argentina’s basketcase collapsing economy at it again… I guess there is the “people so poor they can’t even pay low rent controlled rents” era of failing capitalism I hadn’t considered.

  6. What are these comments? Is this an economics sub? One of the most settled area of economics is how price controls increase price and decrease quantity supplied. Yet here people are trying to act like its not just a good consequence of a bad policy being removed.

  7. America doesn’t need rent control, we need cooperations to not be able to buy/own SFH

    Local governments need to change zoning laws as well

    Do both of those and I bet there wouldn’t be a housing problem

    You could always throw a cherry on top and remove tariffs/duties on Canadian wood

  8. So for now, they lowered the rents to attract new renters, basically a trap, knowing they will find it hard to move after 1 year of getting used to the location. Second year they will jack up prices and keep doing it every year to begin to profit. Classical bait and hook!
    Lots of these places need to build 2-3 bedroom apartments for sale, like they did it and are doing it in socialistic countries. Let people own first and rent as a last resort. 
    Thats were every country dealing with the issue of owning vs renting must  pass laws for, and kick douche investors out.
