The dark side of Turkey’s beauty industry | DW Documentary

Be it for nose jobs, hair transplants, or liposuction: Turkey’s beauty industry is booming. Medical tourists from abroad are being attracted by clinics and agencies offering low prices. In countries like the UK, the same procedures often cost double, or triple the price. Cases of botched procedures and even deaths are on the rise, though. Victims and their relatives are demanding accountability.

  1. Plastic surgery is a shameful Scam no matter where it's done. And it's mostly women who are the prey of this unnecessary and predatory industry. It should be illegal except for cases of serious deformity.

  2. We should spread the word. Especially on all the social media platforms where teenagers are spending their time on, being influenced about “the look”. I also don’t understand all the jaw operations.. we can’t all look the same.
Unfortunately, it looks like Kardashians became idols!! How sad is that? 🙁

  3. My condolences to the family and friends..
    Very sad ..
She had a beautiful face too, though her life is much more important .
    Take care.

  4. And the already busy regular healthcare can restore all the damage done and that’s one reason why people who use their brain regarding to healthcare have to pay for stupid choices of health tourists via a high healthcare insurance.

  5. Whoever goes for the “cheapest” always ends up in this same situation. Make your research properly. And beware of “agencies” for accountability, choose registered clinics or hospitals . %70 percent of social media accounts are just social media clinics which has no registered papers and illgeal , hence no accountability cause they are non existent on the paper .

  6. This video has nothing to do with reality as expected from DW's news about Türkiye. Turkish hospitals are top-notch institutions and there is no way that you cannot separate a real hospital or a clinic from an unregistered health facility. If you choose to undergo a surgery in an unregistered place, you will surely suffer from consequences, but that is the case anywhere in the World and they all look professional and their equipment is real, but they must be registered and have the necessary certifications. I am sure they knew exactly what that clinic was about, but went ahead with it anyway due to the fact that the price was cheaper.

  7. One of my friend’s niece who was 27years old died a year and a half ago in Turkey as well from liposuction. She flew from Australia and never came back. People have to really be aware of what risks they are going under. Going to some other country that you are not originally from or have friends and family, that is really insane.

  8. We all saw together during the COVID-19 epidemic that the quality of Turkey's Health sector and Doctors is far ahead of Europe.

Hundreds of thousands of people come to Türkiye to have plastic surgery and 99.9% of them leave Turkey satisfied.

In the last 10 years, 3 people have died because they came to Turkey and had plastic surgery (wrong procedures).

Two of these 3 people are people who had surgery illegally even though they shouldn't have had plastic surgery…

    IS TURKEY GUILTY FOR THIS?!

THE MEDICAL SECTOR IN TURKEY WORKS WITH THE WORLD'S MOST ADVANCED EQUIPMENT AND TREATMENT METHODS. TURKEY IS A COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WHERE "FULL FACE TRANSPLANTATION" IS PERFORMED AND THE TRANSPLANTED PATIENT LIVES A HEALTHY LIFE.

WHILE EUROPE IS AT A POINT WHERE PATIENTS CANNOT REACH DOCTORS AND TREATMENT, FROM THE HIV-AIDS PANDEMIC TO ALL OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS, TURKEY IS PROVIDING FULLY FUNCTIONED HEALTH SERVICES TO ALL ITS CITIZENS WITH THE MOST ADVANCED MEDICAL DEVICES AND PERSONALIZED MEDICINE. IT IS A COUNTRY THAT PROVIDES SERVICES WITH ITS TREATMENTS!

WE WILL NEVER FORGET THE PEOPLE WAITING AT HOSPITAL DOORS TO DIE DURING THE COVID OUTBREAK IN ENGLAND! IT IS UNCONSIDERABLE THAT SUCH A TERRIBLE DEFICIENCY SHOULD EXPERIENCE IN Türkiye!

IN CONCLUSION, BEFORE CRITICIZING TURKEY, GIVE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE CITIZENS YOU WATCHED DIE AT THE DOORS OF HOSPITAL DURING THE COVID OUTBREAK!

YOU SHOWED THAT YOU ARE PAPER TIGERS, THINKING THEY ARE DEVELOPED COUNTRIES, WHEN YOU WERE INHERENT TO EVEN DISTRIBUTE MASKS DURING THE COVID OUTBREAK!

  9. The people getting surgery need therapy more than surgery. Social Media is to blame for a lot of the body dismorphia that is so prevalent.

  10. I dont get this. Every time someone goes into surgery, you risk dying. You can even die at the dentists office.

  11. I wonder how many of these people had EDS and were medically gaslit like me just to be further tortured in the name of beauty/health

  12. So sad the case where the beautiful lady died. My daughter was bullied all through school and into sixth form due to her size and we never knew, she hid it very well, when we found out the educational establishment was not interested and went to extreme lengths to sweep it under the carpet so as to avoid a bad ofsted report. Thankfully, my daughter channelled herself into studying hard and graduated this year top of her year with Masters Degree in Aerospace engineering while the bullies sit at home with their 3 kids, absent father and zero prospects…

  13. I am Turkish and even I, will never ever go to those sus medicals
You’ve gotta make sure the doc is real doc and have examples & have positive reputation

The cheapest good doc is starting from $3500 for any procedure…

  14. In 2001 I had LASIK surgery to correct my myopia in Turkey in Istanbul and paid 1000 US Dollars . Everything went well and I never wore glasses or contact lenses again.
