Ancient chalk sculpture is ‘most important prehistoric art’ – A 5,000-year-old chalk sculpture of a “talismans drum” found in a grave of three children has been hailed as “one of the most significant” ancient discoveries in the UK.

I always love seeing these sorts of ancient artifacts, even if I don’t really know what they mean they are somehow soothing to see, in that they were made by someone not that unlike us in some sense. I always wonder what these people would think or beleive or how would they behave. Would they be freindly, or scared, or hostile? We might never know exactly why they made these things, but we know that they did, and we know that they were in some way meaningful to them, and there is a certain beauty in that, even if we don’t really understand it.
