After over four years living in finally, this is absolutely spectacular.

  1. I’ve lived in Finland for 25 years and seen auroras once. I was in a deep state of kalsarikänni and my bf took me to the balcony, I just complained the whole time like a true drunk Finn.

  2. There’s a reason why you hadn’t seen them in four years. Those years were in between of the maximums of the [11-year solar cycle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_cycle), when sun spot activity was at the lowest point in the cycle.

We are approaching the max point of the [cycle number 25](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_cycle_25), the sun spot activity is predicted to be at its highest in around 2024-2025. So more of this stuff is likely in the coming years!

  3. I was so looking forward to this: the forecast showed it would be great, the weather was cooperating,… and then my twins got stomach flue and I spent the night watching over them instead.
