Are not most of these MP’s there because of lies and misinformation? Or is it OK to lie to the electorate but not to your colleagues?
It was a pleasure to listen to John Major on Sky earlier, why has the calibre of politicians dropped so drastically?
I think we need a strict change to the ministerial code. Any person proven to have lied should immediately be stripped of office and barred from public office for life. Perhaps even barred from directorships or chairman positions for life as well for good measure.
We should expect our representatives to be the beacon of virtue, and defend that idea vigorously.
You know you’re old when you lived long enough to see John Fucking Major being labeled a dignified statesman. The person who had an affair with Edwina Currie while they were both married to other people.
Seriously?
Major reveals he is confused over the party he joined decades ago but didn’t want to make a fuss.
Whenever someone makes a statement about fundamental ethics / morality etc. with the word “must” in terms of what consequences would follow, the statement only works in a society / country that still has fundamental morals, ethics, laws etc. and mechanisms that enforce them. Unfortunately such a “must” is meaningless in the present UK – as there are zero consequences to previously inconceivable transgressions.
They were not even excuses, all Johnson did was deny everything at first. The excuses came a few hours later, like he went and had a shower to think of a clever comeback to feed to the press.
