LIVE: Putin’s Forces ‘Punish’ Zelensky’s Men; 2,000+ Ukrainian Troops ‘Wiped Out’ in Kursk Offensive
Ukrainian forces pressed forward with their significant cross-border advance into Russia’s Kursk region for a second consecutive week on Wednesday. They reported capturing more ground, taking additional Russian prisoners, and destroying a bomber at military airfields.
According to Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of the Ukrainian military, troops advanced 1 to 2 kilometers (approximately a mile) further into Kursk on Wednesday. In addition, they captured over 100 Russian soldiers, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stating that these prisoners would eventually be exchanged for Ukrainian POWs.
In response, the Russian Defence Ministry released videos claiming to show its forces capturing Ukrainian soldiers. Russia has asserted that since the onset of hostilities in the Kursk region, Ukraine has suffered significant losses, including up to 2,300 troops, 37 tanks, 32 armored personnel carriers, 18 infantry fighting vehicles, 192 armored fighting vehicles, 88 motor vehicles, four anti-aircraft missile systems, two MLRS launchers, and 15 field artillery guns.
