Fracking firm Cuadrilla to permanently abandon controversial UK sites | Fracking

  1. >The UK’s failed shale industry consistently argued that fracking could help to secure gas supplies

You cannot secure supply of a non-renewable resource.

Fracking doesn’t make money without historically high prices for oil and gas.

Fracking leaks are a huge source of methane.

Fracked fuels have a much lower EROEI, they don’t deliver enough energy surplus to power industrial civilisation.

    >Francis Egan, the chief executive of Cuadrilla, said the government’s oil and gas regulator had ordered the “ridiculous” shutdown of the wells in the northern Bowland Shale gas formation despite Europe’s gas supply crisis.

Francis Egan, I hope you fall arse first onto a twelve foot spike. You’re an ecocidal genocidal scumjug and I hope this ruins you.

  2. > Egan said: “At a time when the UK is spending billions of pounds annually importing gas from all corners of the globe, and gas prices for hard-pressed UK households are rocketing, the UK government has chosen this moment to ask us to plug and abandon the only two viable shale gas wells in Britain.”

Go fuck yourself. Cunt. We’re in this mess because of the Tory’s failure to create a viable alternative to gas heating over the last 12 years. Banning on shore wind, failing to develop tidal lagoons, small scale geothermal, no domestic/state owned offshore wind sector, etc etc etc…

Making the climate emergency even worse whilst poisoning the water isn’t the answer to rising energy prices in the UK.

    Good riddance.

*Edit: actually it’s not fair just to blame the Tories, this slow motion UK policy based energy pricing crisis has been coming for longer than 12 years. Selling off the country’s state owned world leading nuclear industry was their fault though… dicks. We should have had a proper continuation plan for nuclear as old plants aged out and a plan for waste by now.*

  3. Cuadrilla ? Is that the king of the Iceni or a Roman emperor ?
We need to build ships, lots of them and tow dear old blighty further south closer to the other third world countries like us.

  4. I’ve driven past the pictured site a few times: they used soooo much power lighting it all up at night long.

So it was a carbuncle 24/7. As well as them being proven to pollute water supplies and cause earthquakes.

  5. Fossil fuel project need to stop and all that money should be invested in green alternatives. We will still need to keep existing projects going while we switch over, however fossil fuels have very much had their day as the country’s (and the world’s) main source of energy. The likes of Cuadrilla will have made enough money to last the higher-ups a lifetime, they should quit while they are ahead and just retire in peace. We need to save the planet and these companies will only do the opposite in the name of profit, they have no business in deciding our future anymore.
