Ukraine’s stunning incursion into Russia’s Kursk border region was a bold gamble for the country’s military commanders, who committed their limited resources to a risky assault on a nuclear-armed enemy with no assurance of success.

After the first signs of progress, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy broke his silence and spelled out Kyiv’s daily advances to his war-weary public. By Wednesday, Ukrainian officials said they controlled 1,000 square kilometers (386 square miles) of enemy territory, including at least 74 settlements and hundreds of Russian prisoners of war.

  21. To take kyiv they would have had to completely destroy it. Plus if putin took Ukraine it would rush him into another battle with who ever want smoke with russia. Hes doing a better job then the US in Afghanistan. No allies no support slipper wearing Afghanistan

  35. Well they left the door open for them to defect and they did not defect, so now they are all pretty much dead. Do you not know that Russia is as powerful and well armed as the United States of America? How would the Ukraine do if they invaded America? That was merely an act of suicide unless it is part of the mass defection us diplomats requested as part of finding a peaceful way to end the war. For instance my grandmother was born in the Ukraine, my grandfather was born in Russia, so were theirs. lol You expect them to act like enemies? Only in propaganda photos when NATO is the invader who pulled a coup on the Ukraine, like a South American coup by the CIA, using a puppet as a leader, stops elections, conscripts the people and sentences them to death.
    Well they must surrender or this could get ugly. They cannot win. Any more than they could win against America. It is doubtful today that America could win against Russia.
    They have mach 10 missiles that the US cannot defend against and does not have. The American navy is defenseless against them.
