Bayern want to offload Goretzka before deadline day and are upping the pressure on him to leave, hence his exclusion from the squad today. Kompany has other plans in midfield. As of now, there’s no price tag for Goretzka. From the club, it is said that the most important thing is that he leaves.

  1. I have to be honest, I find this treatment of Goretzka pretty shameful.

  2. I think selling makes sense but he has been a loyal servant of the club for 6 years. Forcing him out like this is wrong.

  3. While I think he is a great player, I did get “cashing-fat-paycheck-and-not-giving-it-his-all” vibes from him in the last one or two years.

Downvote me all you want it takes more for me to feel sorry for someone who earns 18 million a year

  4. Saudi or maybe a loan move with part Of the salary covered by us

  5. Regardless of his recent performance, this is not how you treat a player who served you for so many years and won it all with you.

  6. Goretzka is getting paid. He has been told Nagelsmann will **never** select him for the national team. Why should he seek a lower wage at a different club? There’s no incentive for Goretzka to go. He’s not going to improve his financial situation by leaving.

If Bayern really wants Goretzka to leave, offer him a settlement and release him.

  7. disgraceful from Bayern, never thought I would say this for us but here we are

  8. They should have focused on selling him earlier, rather than spending so much time trying to sell De Ligt. Now, it feels like it’s already too late

  9. I hate this. Everyone knows the salary situation but as a fan this is not what i want to see. Not long ago Goretzka and Kimmich were considered the best double six in the world – for a reason.

Something like selling him and tanking something like 6 mio salary a year for the new team, would not only be more graceful and sending a message to new players but also have a positive tax effect

  10. It’s all been said already. A player who was this important to the club’s success should be treated with more decency and given a fair chance to prove himself under the new Coach. If both sides see that it doesn’t work out, okay, happens. But it looks like Bayern is even giving him a fair chance. It’s shameful, really.

  11. Not sure about you guys, but i dislike this whole behavior. Goretzka is maybe not the most useful midfielder we got anymore, but he always was loyal to the club, fought for the badge and was a very good guy. Contracts are made with 2 sides, i dont know, i just dislike the way we may part ways.

  12. I don’t think he’s so indispensable based on abilities that he has to stay, but he’s been a good servant to the club. We can’t force him out like this, let’s give him a chance to fight for his spot in the squad. Or at least let him leave on his own terms.

  13. Can’t expect Eberl-Kompany to have the faintest idea what Mia San Mia is meant to mean. It’ll take time.

  14. Can we start posting who the source is for headlines if it’s in the tweet. I’m tired of reading my news here but still having to click the link to see it’s a twitter account quoting which source. Why isn’t the source in the headline or anywhere posted on reddit

  15. Although I don’t think he has been our best midfielder these past few seasons this man has all my respect and should not be treated like this. It makes me sad

HOWEVER. If this is simply because Kompany finds other midfielders in the squad more fitting for his system meaning and this decision is strictly tactical and not at all political, then it’s all fair game

  16. Goretzka will be like: I’ll take the bench and my 36M over the course of the next 2 years, thanks.

  17. The fall of Gorerzka needs to be studied. From being excluded from Germany’s Euro squad to being forced out the door at Bayern, shit’s insane.

  18. I’ve always liked Goretzka and if he wasn’t on the bench today, because the club is trying to force him out, I would be very, very disappointed. Every single player in the club, deserves to be treated with respect and dignity – no matter how big their contract is.
That being said, when looking on the squad list for todays game, I can’t see who he should be replacing on the bench? Pavlo, Kimmich, Laimer and Palhinha all seems like better choices, than Leon is right now, imo. I really hope that’s the only reason for his absence earlier tonight, and that he will get a fair chance during the season, should the opportunity arise.

  19. Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I think this was a long time coming. Goretzka has been out of form for two years, there’s no reason to play a mediocre player 18 Million a year. As for loyalty, we pay him 18 million a year, of course he’s going to be loyal especially when other teams won’t even pay him anything close to that. We can’t keep people around that aren’t performing properly. He’s not been on Bayerns level for 2 years now. That’s 36 Million going to someone who, frankly, deserves half of that at best. I appreciate what he’s done for the club, I really don’t want to shit-talk the guy, but we don’t need to keep a guy on payroll that isn’t Bayern level.

  20. He‘s on 16-18m€ net salary, he‘s highly overpaid for his performances.

  21. His performance isn’t worth what he’s being paid anymore. Don’t know what else to say.
