  8. Hmm this would only make sense if UK had a large EV manufacturing base, which it doesn’t. There is a presence of Nissan, Mini, Toyota and Vauxhall plants. Maybe they think those ICE manufacurers would be threatened by cheaper Chinese EV cars, in which case UK should invite Chinese manufacturers to set up locally.

  10. Cheap cars are obviously great, but I’m really worried about **China** selling those cars. China is Europe’s ideological rival. Ideally, we should be trying to reduce our reliance on them as much as possible

    Oh no the cheap trash cars are going to flood Europe.

    Then my family bought a Daewoo Nexia thing didn’t break for 10 years needed like one belt replacement. It cost like half of what it’s design was based on the Opel Kaddet at the time.

  14. Eh, who cares? It is the moral Europeans that killed local ones “Dacia”. So to my heart, fuck off. I not going to buy overpriced cars or overpriced wagons (Ford). I prefer Toyota and Hyudai and Nissan.

    To conclude, I cant wait to piss on their grave.

If European countries get pushed out of the car manufacturing business then that should allow Europe to finally focus full-force on what makes it a wonderful place – walkability, cycling and public transit. The UK and Germany have been hindered in this regard by having to appease the auto industry’s ability to sell to a domestic market, and if that industry dies the pressure to do so will too.
