When we talked about the state of the Soviet Union in school – yes I’m old – , our geography teacher enthusiastically told us the story how he lost his tank in the Pripjet marches.
Somehow, this made him curious about geography and influenced his career decision.
He was a decent guy who thought we’ll all get along if we are able to get rid of ideologies.
I think he died in 90s, believing that Europe would finally come together. …well except the Balkans, of course.
