Ukrainian soldier walks past dead enemy troops & says key Russian town captured…despite Putin claims

A Ukrainian soldier said in a video released on Monday (August 12) that Sudzha, a city in Russia’s Kursk region, was not under Russian control and that they hadn’t found Russian soldiers following a search of the city.

Reuters was able to confirm the location from the buildings characteristics, street layout and trees which match satellite, file and street view imagery. Reuters was not able to independently verify the date.

Kyiv is currently conducting its biggest incursion into sovereign Russian territory, in the Kursk region.

Ukrainian forces rammed through the Russian border last Tuesday (August 6) and swept across some Western parts of Russia’s Kursk region, a surprise attack that may be aimed at gaining leverage in possible ceasefire talks after the U.S. election in November.

  19. Don’t be misled by Western propaganda propagated by government-controlled media—Ukraine cannot achieve victory against Russia under the current circumstances. The Ukrainian forces are critically under-equipped in Kursk, with no significant heavy artillery, an almost non-existent air force, and only a handful of operational tanks. As of now, Russian forces are likely executing a multi-pronged assault, including airborne deployments behind Ukrainian lines. This would be followed by concentrated air strikes to weaken resistance and then a coordinated ground offensive with armour and infantry to eliminate any remaining opposition.

    This Ukrainian incursion appears to be a tactical ploy, likely orchestrated to secure additional financial aid from Western governments, and to maintain the illusion of progress in the conflict. However, any military strategist will tell you that capturing territory is only part of the equation—holding it is the true test of operational success. Ukraine’s current actions suggest desperation rather than a sustainable military strategy.

    These Ukrainian forces are being sacrificed in a high-stakes PR manoeuvre designed to extract more support from the West. However, this could soon change. If Trump is re-elected in November, he has signalled a potential shift in U.S. policy that may cut off the financial lifeline to Kyiv. The grim reality on the ground is that Ukrainian forces are running on empty—both in terms of equipment and manpower. Reports indicate that conscription has become increasingly aggressive, with boys as young as 16 and men up to 60 being forcibly drafted to the front lines. The international legion of foreign fighters is nearly depleted, with many withdrawing due to the overwhelming casualties and lack of support.
