Kursk offensive: Over 3,000 Russians evacuate as Ukraine’s military operation rages on

Since Friday, more than 3,000 Russian civilians have evacuated Kursk, according to Russia’s Emergencies Ministry. This comes as Ukraine continues its counteroffensive military operation in the region – 32 months into the neighbouring countries’ war.

Roughly 10,000 locals have been housed in 171 different emergency shelters across 24 different regions of Russia, ministry spokesperson Artyom Sharov told reporters on Saturday.

Making the situation even more dire for locals, a bridge over the Seym River was destroyed by Ukrainian forces on Friday, cutting off civilians from various towns and villages.

The incursion – the largest foreign attack on sovereign Russian territory since the Second World War – began last Tuesday, when Ukrainian troops pushed their way through Russia’s western border.

  1. Jay Nordlinger has just posted an important pro-Ukraine article, ‘A People Fights Back’. With useful links. At the National Review website, ‘the corner’ section.

  2. Looks like Putler was asleep at the wheel eh ? Is this " the bear" they were always threatening Ukraine with ? Maybe the bears getting a poke now eh ?!

  3. The Marshall Plan and the Cold War.. WOULD NOT HAPPEN!! If Trump and Putin were in power!! Trump promised me Greenland🇬🇱 and I hope🤞trump trades full US.sovereignty over Greenland for Donbas. Russia🇷🇺 will NOT claim any part of Arctic Greenland in exchange for US.recognition of Donbas as RUSSIAN TERRITORY!!!!

  4. Russia was surprised because they were given security promises that NATO would never allow their equipment to attack Russia. Unbelievably irresponsible from our western leaders.

  5. I am not happy to see such videos. I wish people can talk about peace not statistics of death. What wrong happened to the world to celebrate death. Can't we advocate for peace instead. We have lost our brothers and sisters in this war. How much more bloodshed do we need to see? How many more lives should be taken? What do we gain? May we all be positive and take a stand for peace. I am a Russian, both Ukraine and Russia have lost lives in this war. We individuals do not like to see this. The presidents might be interested in these numbers of soldiers dying but the losses are for us the people. I beg all of you who will read my comments to stand for peace not to celebrate people dying
