We’d like to reassure people that we’re investigating and the cats are safe and in our care. We have been dealing with this since before the clip went viral online and we need to follow the proper legal process and not discuss due to UK GDPR laws.

Should check up on his kids too if he has any. Someone who gets that upset he kicks a cat wouldnt have much problem slapping around a kid either.
I’m typically very liberal when it comes to law and order, but christ straight up abuse towards animals, just like with children, should see such harsh punishments. The guy is on video doing this, there is no defence… I’d quite happily lock him up for a few years and then deport the prick.
I read an article saying he’s sorry and his cats are well treated. Glad to see this considering he thinks what he did is treat his cat well. More like he doesn’t have a relationship with the cat like most cat owners do and obviously doesn’t hold back from abusing animals… More like.
Mourinho wasn’t lying when he said we shouldn’t idolise footballers.
Good. Also saw he got kicked a few times. Should have kicked him harder. No idea why West ham thought playing him after that was a good idea. Fucker should at the least have been suspended without pay.
The club have docked him two weeks wages too – £250k
Thank god! I was one of the people who signed the petition asking the RSPCA to take action, and I’m so glad they did.
Absolute minimum that should have happened. Hope he faces more punishments but fear he won’t.

And yes West Ham having him on the pitch yesterday was an appalling decision.
The Watford fans were all chanting “That’s how your cat feels” when he hit the deck after a tackle. I love that sort of thing.
This is going to cost him far more than he ever possibly could have imaged.
The French changed their penal code a few months back and now a French citizen can be prosecuted in France for animal cruelty committed abroad.
Charges against him have now been filed in Paris, he is looking at potentially up to 4 years in jail.
It’s bad enough abusing the animals, what on earth possesses someone to then video that sort of thing and post it online?
Just putting it out there hurting animal is usually the last step before hurting people.

“”Zouma has been fined the maximum amount possible” – understood by Sky News to be two weeks’ wages worth £250,000.”
That’s… disgusting? I don’t follow football, and I had no idea their wages were so high. 250K/WEEK is obscene. Truly offensive.

When I watched the video one of the disturbing things was right at the start when the child interacts with the cat. That seems to me to be ‘learnt behaviour’. I find it difficult to believe this is the first time the cat has been abused.
Literally the least they could do…

But he said they’re cats are loved family members.., so it’s fine he kicks them… right? Right?!
People who abuse animals usually have other awful characteristics.

Before people imply ‘well not much could have been done psychologically’ because we’ve only seen a few clips- that’s exactly the point. what we’ve seen is a slither of the abuse he’s put those cats through. with how normalised it was to the extent a mate of his posted it to social media like it was a funny ‘relatable’ thing to expect upvites from shows how long this has been going on for.
Sometimes takes cats longer to bounce back to being trustful of humans again compared to dogs on average too…

I obviously despise mistreatment of animals. But I can’t come across this idea that animals are somehow more valuable than human lives. And under this idea, I can’t understand the reaction to this case and to the overtake of Newcastle by the Saudis.
That’s so great and really great to see so many animal welfare advocates come out in support across the UK. Hopefully now all the other players (and people in general actually) who contribute to animal cruelty but pay other people to do it, will have their cats taken off them also.
I didn’t realise there were so many compassionate vegans in the Uk and on Reddit. Because surely all this fuss wouldn’t just be because it’s a cat right…
