All the Easter eggs and not one comes with a mug. I am appalled! What has Easter come to!

  1. Aren’t we the real mugs for putting up with this corporate bullshit?

Easter eggs have gone to shite. It’s a race to the bottom to produce the tiniest egg with the most packaging for the low, low price of €6-€10

Gone are the days you’d spend a solid £20 on the egg but it would be huge, have a couple of full size chocolate bars with it and a mug as well if you were lucky. You’d be lucky to get a fun size bar with your tiny egg now.

The world is gone to shite. This isn’t what Jesus died on the cross for.

  2. The real fuckery is how the Easter eggs have landed on shelves by January (if not December). A full 1.5/2 months before *Lent* starts, let alone Easter itself. Tell me in all seriousness, who is buying Easter eggs in early January? If it’s for snacking chocolate, you’ve got a heap of options in bar form, which is a hell of a lot easier to eat and store in the first place. Cheaper and possibly better quality too.

Anyway they’re gone to shite for the most part. Mostly sugar and palm oil in the cheap ones these days.

  3. Make sure you’re not buying from any of these companies:
Nestlé, Cargill, Barry Callebaut, Mars, Olam, Hershey and Mondelēz.

Check the back of the box to make sure.

These companies are currently being sued for allowing and profiting off of child slavery and trafficking. The companies they pay for cocoa have tricked children, moved them across borders and forced them to work for little to nothing, with no contact from their families and they were kept from running away from armed guards.

DO NOT SUPPORT THESE COMPANIES. Vote with your money. We would not accept this if the children were from Ireland, we should not accept it when the children are from Mali.

Do not give your child chocolate that cost another their childhood and dignity.

  4. I got a mug with an Easter Egg 30+ years ago when I was like 9. It’s not even Easter-themed. It’s just a regular mug.

I still use it for tea whenever I go home.

  5. I weep for this new generation. No Easter egg mugs, no toys in breakfast cereal boxes, and the quality of Kinder Egg toys has gone right down the toilet! This is the fall of our great civilization!

  6. The mugs are the people that buy them at those prices.

Crème Egg and the others for €10, saving 99c or €2? Only £5 in Tesco in NI.
    €5.99 or 2 for €8 are just £3 each.

Even the £1 eggs sell for €2 or 3 for €5 in Tesco.ie

Why are the prices almost double south of the border for the exact same item?

  7. Man I kicked up bloody murder for a teenage mutant hero turtles one with a mug when I was a kid. Mug broke like a week later! It was Michelangelo, in case you’re wondering

  8. I’m going to home make our eggs this year. You can even buy moulds online. It will cost £5 for an egg you can’t buy for £20

  9. Sadly alot of them are a generic egg with cheap packaging and a little Kit Kat or Mars bar thrown in

  10. Picked up a sneaky little Mini Eggs one the other day, mad into them every year. Holy jaysus, it was shockingly awful. The chocolate was just this horrible waxy shite. Properly inedible. I know there’s talk all the time of the drop in quality of Cadbury chocolate but Christ almighty, it’s taken a fucking nosedive this year. I won’t be buying that shite anymore, and I’m normally a complete glutton around Easter. Fuck ’em.

  11. I remember a few years ago that Galaxy used to do an egg in the style of those enchanted mini eggs they release around this time of year. It had the little crunchy bits in the egg itself. But you can’t find those anymore. Pity.

Honestly I saw the eggs in Tesco and none of them looked too appealing. I think I’m finally off my bullshit when it comes to Easter Eggs.

  12. Half of them don’t even seem to come with decent chocolate anymore, never mind cups! Most of the mass market chocolate seems to be replacing other ingredients with more and more sugar, especially since Modelez took over Cadbury.
