  1. >Ukraine has made an impassioned plea to Sir Keir Starmer to allow it to use British-donated Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russian territory, insisting the weapons will “turn the tide of war”.

    >Kyiv’s force would use the long-range missiles against Russian airfields, command posts and supply lines, an advisor to Volodymyr Zelensky has told The Telegraph.

    >Mykhailo Podolyak said if Britain loosened restrictions on the use of the weapons, it would allow Ukraine to increase the intensity of strikes against key targets deep inside Russia that could speed up the end of the war.

    >It is the most forthright appeal for the British to grant permission for strikes on Russian soil since the British prime minister spurned Mr Zelensky’s request last month during meetings in London.

    >Kyiv has drawn up a list of potential targets, including an airfield its forces recently struck in a drone attack, that would complicate Russian efforts to resupply its defences in Kursk and drop deadly glide bombs along the front lines.

    >Mr Zelensky last week instructed Ukrainian officials and diplomats to draw up plans to convince his Western allies to end their opposition to their missiles being used on targets inside Russia.

    >Kyiv has already been given permission to use some of its advanced Western weapons inside Russia.
Ukrainian forces have been spotted using British Challenger 2 tanks as part of the invasion of Kursk, as well as American Himars rocket launchers.

    >But Western governments have so far rebuffed Ukrainian requests for permission to carry out long-range missile strikes across the border, amid fears of escalation.

    >“Undoubtedly, Ukraine urgently needs our British partners to authorise the use of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to strike Russian territory,” Mr Podolyak told The Telegraph, revealing part of Kyiv’s diplomatic strategy for the first time.

    >He detailed how command posts, cruise missile storage depots and military airfields located near the Ukrainian border would be targeted in “systematic and large-scale strikes”.

  2. Ashamed that we let Ukraine fight alone and with their hands behind their back. We know that we are at war with Russia and their Axes friends. And still put up unnecessary restrictions that kills our ally.

  3. Honestly, I think the higher-ups should know well the nature of a war better than average people, and it would be in the best interest of UK as well as rest of the Europe that Russia is effectively contained and weakened. All those public talks can very well be for ambiguity purposes against Russia and their allies. What’s more decisive and important are the secret talks, and any public statements can be manipulated, changed, or even backtracked in an infinite number of ways. That’s just how lanuages are usually used internationally and politically. At least, I hope this is the case, otherwise it’s incredibly stupid. The recent incursion does give me hope on this ambiguity.

  4. Afaik they got some US-sourced components and thus the Pentagon has a say in it and they’re still in a bureaucratic checking process, though that surely could be accelerated, if Washington wanted to…

  5. Hopefully Ukraine gets their own cruise missiles fast into production so they can bomb the shit out of Russia

  6. FFS of Putin was ever going to use nukes, would’ve been when Ukraine invaded Russia!

  7. There’s a lot of talks behind the scenes between western government’s and Russia about what they will accept in order not to escalate. If it were me I would say send it.

  8. Ukraine should just say they were given permission through “back channels” and start blasting.

What are the allies gonna do? Fuck up optics and say Ukraine are liars who decided to break the rules to defend their country?

I just don’t see it going that way and when you’re fighting for survival it’s sometimes best not to ask permission.
