This is so fucking funny and so fucking tragic in equal measure.
Things that must be done, right the fuck now, if we have any hope whatsoever of hitting our (still too little too late) climate goals.
Things that will increase energy security, decrease cost of living, and positively impact health.
They’d rather lock people up than do any of it.
It looks like the government actually have less than zero interest in running the country at all.
Has he considered gluing himself to the M4 to get his point across?
I have a theory that over the next 30 years we’ll rush to insulate homes, but only have to undo it due to global warming, as houses become to hot to live comfortably in, as winters become erratic and mild, and summers become deadly with heat and humidity.
We do but it’s a massive job that will cost an awful lot of money. Who’s going to do the work, where are we getting the materials required, how much are people willing to spend on it.
They’re going to have to get councils to stop being so strict when it comes to conservation of appearances then. In my last property we weren’t even allowed to install double glazing or external insulation. Single glazed sash windows and no cavity walls made that place feel like an ice box in winter even with gas central heating running all day.
There is no chance of this happening long-term without massive regulation change.
There are 4.43 million households occupied by private tenants in the UK. I can guarantee that approximately zero of such landlords will pay for further insulation unless it is legally required, and I can also guarantee that approximately zero of the tenants will either.

I actually think the recent requirements for rentals to meet (slowly escalating) EPC cert levels will do more than any other policy has on this matter.

Yes let’s insulate Britain!
Oh wait, wasn’t there a group that wanted that?
