Zelensky says Ukraine aims to create ‘buffer zone’ inside Russia | BBC News
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he wants to create a buffer zone inside Russian territory.
He added that creating a buffer zone in Russia’s Kursk region would be part of Ukraine’s defence strategy going forwards.
Two weeks on from the start of its incursion, Ukraine says it has destroyed two strategic Russian bridges. A Russian investigator has confirmed that Ukraine had struck and damaged a third bridge.
Moscow has called the incursion a major provocation and vowed to retaliate with a “worthy response”.

This Zelenski Buffer Zone is just so much bollocks. They took troops away from the Donbass in some last chance NATO inspired strike into Russia. They know the Russians won't stand for it ever. This winter in Ukraine will be very hard as 50% plus of their generating capacity is offline. Net result is Kiev lost New York, a major city last week but silence in the MSM. The donbass front is collapsing but PR dictates that Kursk is important in the West as they try to map out a PR Draw. It will not work.

Forget argueing about being pro Russia or UKraine, lets look at the situation strategically, tactically, logistically and historically.
1) What is the strategic benefit of the Kursk offensive – None except for a brief PR boost.
2) What is the tactical benefit of the Kursk offensive – None. Russia has adequate men and material to continue its Donbas offensive and stop the Kursk offensive.
3) Logistics – Ukraine relies on foreign shipments of war material and they can't stabilise their eastern front, so they definitely do not have the resources to maintain the Kursk offensive and such an offensive would require artillery and air support equal to or superior to Russia to succeed.
4) Historically – This is a replay of the Battle of the Bulge. Anyone with a glimmer of knowledge of the "Bulge" can see this.
This will not end well for Zelensky. The troops expended in this folly would of been put to better use in the Donbas region.

What a load of nonsense. Keep this in perspective, those Ukrainian troops were needed where the Russians are putting the pressure on, not on some pointless excursion to Kursk. Russia will be able to hold onto territory that it takes, Ukraine will be driven back out of Kursk. This has got Ardennes offensive written all over it, short term gains but long term it’s an offensive from a finished army.
