Went to a pub in Ireland for the first time in two years. Was in top form going in, but honestly after an hour I felt exactly this.

I miss table service, hate queuing at the bar again awkwardly trying to make eye contact with the barman so he will serve me
The few times I’ve made it to a pub over the last couple years, my voice has given out so quickly, trying to talk over the noise. My vocal chords are just not up to it! I went into lockdown a young man and now I feel decidedly middle-aged.
It’ll take a while to build up the tolerance again.
I’m lucky my local is still doing table service, if you’re out for a match or something I get the buzz of everyone mingling up at the bar, but if I want a few quite pints then table service stops things getting out of hand
All this home drinking made wimps of ya all…
Get back into training… wave 20 er at the dog, shout across the sitting room “two pints please” … “TWO PINTS please”… louder “TWO PINTS PLEASE”
(X 3 for last orders)
Yeah, I was in a pub in Killarney on a Saturday night recently. Was wedged. After the third person shouldering past me to get to the bar i finished my pint, went to the offie for a few and back to the hotel. Killarney has some great off-licence’s!
Pubs…the craic is gone. The positivity is gone.
