Hard to disagree with Gareth Barry. However, I’ll go a little more left field and say Bellamy. Not necessarily for his ability as a footballer, but I think he was the first bridge towards the success we know now.
I’d say Zabaleta, for a good chunk of time he was arguably the best RB in the premier league
Martin Petrov.
In recent years honestly probably Sterling. So frustrating at times but scored loads of goals – is he second highest scorer for us?
Edin Dzeko
Edin dzeko, guy was so so class
Absolutely sterling, the amount of disrespect he gets is crazy considering how good he was for us and the league as a whole only ever seems to criticise him
kolarov!
What are the parametres? Underrated by City fans or by the wider football audience?
Either way, it’s hard to disagree with either Barry or Sterling
Zabaleta for sure. Highest of quality every time he stepped foot on the field
Gareth Barry is the right answer.
Held the midfield together incredibly well, doing all the dirty work and going completely under the radar for it. The you don’t realise how important he is until he’s gone.
Dzeko
Just for a different answer, Mahrez.
Was it like he wasn’t there sometimes and could be a black hole out on the wing? Yes. But goodness when he was on it seemed like we were guaranteed to win and I do not think he got the recognition he deserved across other fanbases for being the baller that he was.
I find it difficult to look past Sibierski, Petrov or Didi.
I know Didi was old, but his football intelligence was so good, he appeared to do very little but his positioning and deft touches were brilliant.
Sib and Petrov were solid. Tarnat in his brevity.
Clichy. Was so good he let us play with only 1 left sided player for a huge number of years.
Otamendi. Apart from the drop in his last season he was a beast for us. At times it was like he was the only player in the team who actually knew defending when kompany was out for large periods.
Barry Conlon.
If we had utilized him where he could of best displayed his skills we could’ve got to the conference League which would’ve made our resurgence even more incredible.
😁
Uye Rosler & Kinkladze
Talent compared to perception? Adam Johnson. But ain’t nobody giving him any prizes.
Barry is a great shout. I’d consider Nolito, but he wasn’t around for long enough. Barry flew under the radar for years putting in solid performances every time.
Used to love watching Stephen Ireland when he was on it.
Underrated by everyone else? Fernandinho. People were glazing Kante whilst this one-man midfield had three times the passing range and even managed to transition to the hardest role in a Pep team.
Underrated by fellow blues recently? Ake. Chap that sits next to me thought he was shit based off of the fact he played for Bournemouth and didn’t walk straight into the team past 3 other excellent CBs.
Historically, it’s hard to see past Sylvan Distin though. What a fantastic CB he was for years.
A few spring to mind Barry , Milner, Delph but I seem to get drawn to Lescott . People under estimate how good of a cb partnership he made with Kompany .
Underrated: Ederson . Till this day, there are people who still don’t get his importance to our system. You can’t just drop Ortega in there and think that it’s all good..
Overrated: Alvarez. He’s actually not that good, we’ve done extremely well banking in 80mil for him.
Best: Haaland. We’ve never had any player like him before.
Worst: KP.
Funniest: Aguero / Carson
Most annoying: I take this as most frustrating to watch? Sane.
Most potential: Foden
Most wasted potential: Micah Richards.
Best passer: KdB
Best Long shots: Yaya
Most clinical: aguero & haaland
Most athletic: Haaland
One season wonder: The beast. Negredo
Most agro: Ferna
Best skills: Robinho Lmaoo.
Game IQ : Silva
David Silva – we love him so much and he is very highly rated, but this is a guy that should be in ‘best ever PL team’ discussions, but won’t be because he’s been overshadowed by KDB, and the KDB-Gundo-Rodri trio was objectively more successful
Overall though, Zabaleta. Will never be appreciated for the levels he reached in our first couple of title wins.
Samir Nasri
Bernardo silva,
His work rate, dribbling and passing is too good
He’s very versatile, and can play anywhere
But still very less recognition
